Digital Extremes recently wrapped up TennoCon 2021, revealing plans for The New War, crossplay, and even a mobile version of Warframe. Stats have finally been released for the event -- and it seems Warframe is more popular than ever, breaking several community and franchise records for concurrent viewers.

Fans were apparently very excited to learn more about the upcoming expansion, The New War, and they came out in droves during the main event. More than 540,000 concurrent viewers tuned in for TennoCon 2021 at its peak, making it the most-watched Warframe stream ever. Digital Extremes also pointed out that Warframe is the only Twitch Video Game Channel to place in the top-five highest concurrent viewership streams of 2021. Not bad for a game from 2013.

"TennoCon is about Warframe players... an accepting, supportive and inclusive community. They are the reason we have such a fun, cooperative game to play online with friends. This year, the community achieved all-new heights and we couldn’t be more appreciative of their support,” Rebecca Ford, Live Operations and Community Director at DE, said. “We put passion and energy into creating a memorable reveal of The New War for players and we couldn’t be happier to see that this really is what brings Tenno together. They want to know what comes next in our story.”

During the day of TennoCon, Warframe claimed the number one spot on the Twitch charts and even reached the top-ten Global Twitter Trending category. A quick look at SteamCharts reveals that a new concurrent player count was also set the day of TennoCon, with more than 181,000 players online simultaneously.

“This is the biggest thing we’ve done, by a lot… and I’m super excited to do a live demo,” Steve Sinclair, Creative Director at Digital Extremes, said during the broadcast.

It seems that fans were just excited, and it'll be interesting to see how the team handles Warframe's growing popularity leading up to The New War.
