It seems that we’re getting some great reveals for Warframe during today’s TechnoCon event. You no longer have to worry about not being able to play the game with someone who has a different console, as Warframe will be officially getting crossplay and cross-saves for all of them. Additionally, all console updates will now be happening at the same time as the PC updates. The crossplay will include matchmaking with people playing on other consoles.

It wasn’t clear previously that Warframe would ever be getting crossplay, as the creative director had stated that there had been issues trying to work it out with other platforms. Considering Sony’s past resistance to crossplay, this wasn’t terribly surprising to learn, though it was never specifically stated that Sony was the major issue.

As PC Gamer points out, Digital Extremes COO Sheldon Carter had this to say about crossplay in a press release:

"Community is incredibly important to us and opening up Cross Play and Cross Save is just one of many more efforts we’ll take on to bring more players together including extending Warframe’s fast, fluid, action combat experience to other global gaming platforms.”

In addition to the game coming to all consoles, Digital Extreme is also working on making the game into a mobile version too. It’s a little unclear how well Warframe could function as a mobile version, but we’re still stoked to find out.
