Wargroove is getting a free DLC expansion that adds a co-op campaign you can play on your couch with a friend.

If you thought that Advance Wars was fun but needed to be cuter, then Wargroove is your game. In no other game can you play as a literal dog with the rank of general and defeat your enemies with superior battle tactics and strategy. Presumably while also playing fetch with the enlisted men.

Wargroove recently released on the PS4 last summer, finally conquering all major platforms. With nowhere left to invade, Wargroove is instead expanding its empire with a brand new DLC that focuses on a new co-op campaign. And best of all, it's 100% free.

You gotta love developers that give away their stuff for free. If it were EA or Activision, they'd have charged just to see the trailer.

It's called Double Trouble, and the focus will be on a brand new co-op campaign that introduces 3 new Outlaw Commanders. The first is Wulfar, a big, blue-haired bear of a man that seems to be looking after the twins, Errol and Orla. The big bad is Vesper, seen here with wicked hair and a wicked whip.

As for what this campaign is all about, Chucklefish gives us a single clue: "After an unexpected kidnapping and some severe ransom demands, your group of rogues have no choice but to perform the biggest heist that Aurania has ever seen..."

There's also a ton of new stuff to be added in Double Trouble. First, you'll get two new units: Thieves and Riflemen. Second, there will be a bunch of new Quick Play maps officially added to the game from the community database courtesy of the Groove of War team. Public and private multiplayer lobbies will allow for custom campaigns to be played online, and the new multiplayer functionality will allow the co-op campaign to be played with your friend on a couch or from miles away via the internet.

There’s a ton more added too that you can read about over on the official Wargroove website. Suffice to say, it’s all pretty groovy.
