The developer of Warhammer: Odyssey has been unusually quiet the past few months. Beyond a few screenshots and early gameplay footage, there hasn't been much information announced since last November. However, Virtual Realms is breaking the silence by giving TheGamer an exclusive look at one of the playable classes in Warhammer: Odyssey — the Shadow Warrior.

Offering a mixture of ranged and melee attacks, the Shadow Warrior gives players several ways to specialize. Opt for a two-handed bow and you'll be able to unleash long range damage on your enemies while using special abilities to keep them at bay. Players who wish to be a bit closer to the action can choose to dual-wield swords instead. Regardless of weapon choice, Shadow Warriors rely on stealth, evasion, and critical hits in order to be successful on the battlefield.

A complete skillset is yet to be announced for the class, but we wouldn't be surprised to see abilities that fall under the typical "Rogue" umbrella make an appearance — such as damage over time attacks and ensnare spells.

Two other classes have been officially announced — the Witch Hunter and the Slayer. The former wields a sword and hand-bow for high DPS output, while the later can be played as either a tank or damage dealer. It's exciting to see a mobile MMORPG embracing the "holy trinity" so often seen in PC titles, something that should help set it apart from the competition. Each character looks to offer a unique gameplay experience, giving players a reason to party up with others.

Announced late last year, the mobile MMORPG is hoping to do battle with some of the biggest names in the space, such as Black Desert Mobile and Lineage 2: Revolution. Warhammer: Odyssey will not include any Auto-Play features, something that is likely to help it build a passionate following of hardcore MMO gamers. The title will evolve over the years as planned episodic expansions are released and new content becomes available.

As is industry standard at this point, Warhammer: Odyssey will be free to play with "cosmetic and quality of life options" available for purchase. An early 2020 launch is planned for both iOS and Android devices. Be sure to pre-register for the game on the official Warhammer: Odyssey website.
