Let’s be clear about one thing: Warriors: Rise to Glory! is almost certainly going to land on mobile devices just as soon as developer Gavra Games has finished building it for PC. It’s a casual game with ultra-simple controls that lend themselves so easily to mobile that it would be stupid NOT to put Warriors: Rise to Glory! on Google Play of the App Store.
That said, you can get Warriors: Rise to Glory! in Steam Early Access now, and soon you’ll even be able to murder your friends thanks to a multiplayer beta.
Warriors: Rise to Glory! is a casual roguelike game where you play as an ancient gladiator fighting for fame and money. After creating a warrior, you then go to the coliseum to begin your journey as a deadly warrior, gaining XP, cash, and notoriety with every opponent you slay.
Combat is extremely simple: you can move forward or backward, attack at range or with melee, and make either a light, medium, or heavy attack. Your character’s stats determine how likely you are to hit, how much damage you take from incoming attacks, how many tiles you can move, and how much stamina you have to keep fighting.
There’s also equipment and armor that will boost those stats further and can be acquired either through conquest in the arena or by purchasing them from local shops. All of this is accessed at the press of a button via simple menus and looks primed to get monetized for mobile.
Fights themselves are turn-based, with one side hitting the other until one character runs out of hitpoints. The winning warrior then gets to decide whether the loser lives or dies. Death is permanent--as soon as your warrior bites the big one, they lose all their gear and you have to start over from square one, although you do get to pass on a few stats and skills for future generations of warriors.
And if you couldn’t already tell by the trailer, Warriors: Rise to Glory! has a sense of humor that is probably best described as “childish.”
Since releasing into Steam Early Access in 2018, Warriors: Rise to Glory! has added features to its singleplayer experience, but now Gavra Games is ready to unveil the multiplayer portion of the game that has been sorely lacking for so long.
In multiplayer, you can dual your friends or ally with them in 2v2 combat against other players or PC opponents. There’s also a free-for-all option that changes the one-dimensional track into a two-dimensional playing field where characters can fight multiple opponents at once.
There’s no date for exactly when the Warriors: Rise to Glory! multiplayer beta will start on Steam, but it should be coming very soon. Wishlist the game here to get notified on when the beta starts.
