Call of Duty: Warzone is officially adding a 200-player mode. Gone will be the days of 3v3 Gunfights, or 10v10 Moshpit for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare players. The same fast-paced, high adrenaline action will be coming to Verdansk, and Infinity Ward has found a new way to cram even more players into the action. There are numerous guides out on how to win the ever-popular battle royale mode that will be rendered moot, with an extra 50 players to plug any extra holes on the map. Looking for an area without red streaks will be a thing of the past! Time to brush up on those pistol skills?

The official call of duty Twitter released a message today confirming what was reported by TheGamer a few weeks ago, that 200 person Warzone variants were coming. Interestingly, this seems cleverly foreshadowed by the chaotic 10v10 Mosh Pit variant mode that came to the Modern Warfare playlists last week. The ability to test these changes on a smaller scale before implementing into the free to play battle royale has been incredibly effective and ensures a smooth transition. While proving the game remains fun and popular despite the higher frequency of deaths suggests adding to the chaos of Verdansk may just be the correct move to keep the game fresh.

One of the current complaints of players who prefer Modern Warfare has been that Warzone matches can be so incredibly slow, tactical, and strategic. Even the best shooters can find themselves sniped from across the map, hit by a cluster strike, or the unfortunate target of a bounty. Plus, players get automatic respawns to get back into the action in Modern Warfare, while in Warzone, these opportunities are fewer and far between. This latest move might actually bring more Modern Warfare players to Verdansk, which is again a clever move by Infinity Ward given rumors of Warzone carrying forward to the next franchise release.

Based on the originally reported leaks, it would seem these 200 player variants of Verdansk will include both battle royale and plunder, which should significantly excite those who only own the free to play version of Call of Duty. In the above-leaked image, we get significantly more information by zooming in on the image to the left, suggesting there should be something for everybody when released.

Now that we know the mode is coming, all we need to know is when.
