In a huge shake-up to the Warzone meta, the AUG was added to Modern Warfare's Battle Royale in December 2020. It was one of many Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War guns added to the Battle Royale mode when Cold War Season 1 started just after launch.

Not to be confused with the SMG of the same name, the Cold War Tac Rifle fires in a 3-round burst. It can often kill in 6-7 shots if you use the right attachments.

If you want to make the best AUG in Warzone, here are the attachments you need to use.

The Best AUG Attachments in Warzone

Base AUG Without Attachments
Base AUG Without Attachments
  • Ammunition: Salvo 54 Rnd Fast Mag
  • Barrel: 18.2" Strike Team
  • Muzzle: Agency Silencer
  • Optic: Axial Arms 3x
  • Underbarrel: Field Agent Foregrip

To unlock all of these attachments, you will need to get your AUG to level 51. This might be easier to do in Cold War multiplayer or Zombies, so if you have that game then that's the best option. Otherwise, players that only have Warzone should pop some double weapon XP tokens and play some Plunder until the AUG is level 51.

Salvo 54 Rnd Fast Mag

This magazine not only increases the ammo capacity for the AUG but also increases reload speed. This is ideal for fighting other teams, as you will have more ammo to attack the enemy whilst also being able to jump back into the fight quicker.

The 54 Rnd Fast Mag does reduce ADS speed, so it's worth bearing that in mind when approaching corners or peeking an enemy. It's always best to aim before turning so that you are ready to fire as soon as you spot an enemy.

18.2" Strike Team Barrel

Although it isn't listed amongst the pros list in the loadout menu, it is well known in the Warzone community that the Strike Team Barrel increases bullet velocity. This is a very important change to the AUG that makes it much more useable in competitive play. This has been reported by various Youtubers, including JGOD.

This barrel also increases the AUG's fire rate, so it is certainly the best barrel that you can use right now.

The Cavalry Lancer does state that it increases bullet velocity, but it negatively impacts both horizontal and vertical recoil. The Strike Team Barrel does increase bullet velocity, so it is the barrel that everyone should use on their AUG.

Agency Silencer

Warzone Quads

After a turbulent journey, the Agency Silencer is back at its best.

This attachment has been a hot topic since it first launched in Warzone. It was originally rather weak when it was first added to Warzone. It was subsequently adjusted from its Cold War stats to fit more into the Battle Royale mode, becoming comparable to Modern Warfare's Monolithic Suppressor.

However, when Season 2 launched earlier this year, the Agency Silencer was nerfed back to its original state, along with other Cold War suppressors. Not long after, Raven Software, which oversees Warzone balancing, confirmed this was a mistake and rectified the issue recently.

After the fix, the Agency Silencer is now one of the best attachments in Warzone. It offers a list of positive changes to the AUG, including increased bullet velocity and vertical recoil control.

These changes ensure that the AUG is effective in competitive matches, even when coming up against SMGs and rifles that might have quicker base bullet velocity.

Axial Arms 3x Scope

The Axial 3x Scope is ideal for this AUG setup, as it makes you more accurate when engaging in mid-range firefights. Although the AUG is good at both short and long ranges, this scope lets you use that increased bullet velocity and place your shots better.

It does seem to decrease your ADS speed, which could make you less effective at short ranges which is worth remembering. However, many AUG optics seem to have this hidden effect, so don't let it change your opinion. The Axial Arms 3x is the best scope to go with as it helps make the AUG effective at all ranges.

Field Agent Foregrip

The Field Agent Foregrip is one of the most crucial attachments that everyone needs to use in their AUG setup. It increases both horizontal and vertical recoil control, which completely transforms the AUG.

This attachment makes the AUG far more accurate. Note that the gun has changed in the most recent Season 2 Midseason update, with a slight nerf impacting its vertical recoil. The base AUG is less accurate now, but it's still a viable weapon if you can control the increased recoil. The Field Agent Foregrip has never been more important for players using the AUG in their loadout.

With the above attachments, the AUG becomes a formidable weapon, with improved accuracy and bullet velocity. Whether the latest change is substantial enough to shift it from the meta remains to be seen, but this setup should be enough to control the increased recoil.
