While the concept of jumping out of a plane and getting to the ground as quick as possible might seem like the most straightforward thing in the world, in Call of Duty: Warzone you'll find this simple act actually has a lot of strategy and skill behind it. There's more to it than just being able to land where you want, since landing late often means you're a sitting duck to other players who got there first and have looted all the guns already. If you want to know the best way to drop anywhere on Verdansk, this guide will show you how to fall with style.

The best way to land is going to be determined by two primary variables: the flight path of the plane and where you want to land. We'll break down how to best reach your destination depending on how far it is from where you first jump.

500 Meters Or Less

If your target drop zone is within 500 meters of where you first dive from the plane, then you have an easy set of instructions. Simply point yourself at your destination and hold forward to accelerate there as quick as possible. There's no need to pull your chute early unless you want to land on top of a building or structure, so just wait until it pops out automatically.

If you're not sure how far you're going to be from where you want to land while in the plane, remember that each square on the map is 375 meters squared. So, 500 meters would either be about one and a quarter squares long, or just short of the distance between opposite corners.

Finally, if the plane is going to be flying directly over where you want to land, it is still faster to jump out at around 500 meters away from your target since you will fall much faster than waiting for the plane to reach fly over.

This is the range where you'll need to start getting smart about how you're dropping. You won't be able to simply point and fall here, but make smart use of your parachute through what is sometimes called wave dropping. What this technique is, is alternating between free falling and pulling your chute periodically for a few moments. Your character only gets so much horizontal distance while falling without a chute before you're basically going straight down. By pulling the chute you reset this, allowing you to go much further.

When you pull the chute will depend on your altitude, which you can track by the altimeter that shows up on the right of your screen while dropping. This tells you your distance from the ground, but also your speed. The farther you want to go, you will need to pull your chute at lower speeds. For example, if you want to go all the way to 1,400 meters you will want to pull your chute when you hit around 30 meters per second. For something much closer like 700 meters, you can speed up to around 120 meters per second before each pull.

This range is tricky, and will take some feeling out to get right, but just keep in mind that the further you're going, the more often you should be pulling and cutting your chute.

If you want to be completely alone for the early game in Warzone to loot in peace, you'll probably be trying to get as far away from the plane's flight path as possible. If that's your style, you have arguably an easier set of instructions than the close droppers. Just jump out, pull your chute, and point at your destination. Pulling immediately after exiting the plane can take you almost the entire length of the map, meaning you are essentially free to pick any spot you want to land. Just be aware that you will be hitting the ground much later than everyone else, so make sure your landing zone will be empty.
