Call of Duty: Warzone's heartbeat sensor is an extremely handy tool to have in your arsenal, but only if you know how to use it well.

Call of Duty might be an established franchise that has been around for almost two decades, but it is still growing its fan base. In fact, Warzone may be many peoples' first experience with COD. It's free, plays into the current battle royale trend, and let's face it – most of us have nothing better to do for the time being.

The beauty of Warzone is that it's relatively easy to pick up and play, even for players who have little-to-no experience playing CoD games. Since there are 150 players in each round, chances are there will be plenty of other inexperienced players down on the battlefield too. Getting accustomed to the available tools and knowing how to use everything Warzone has to offer is a surefire way to outlast the average player.

Take all of the useful attachments players can choose from in their loadouts, for example. One of the attachments most appealing to newcomers is the heartbeat sensor. On the surface, knowing where nearby enemies are hiding out seems like an easy way to get kills; It certainly can be, but players who pick up on a heartbeat and go in guns blazing might soon find themselves in the Gulag.

There are three things you need to consider after seeing someone appear on their heartbeat sensor. First, is the enemy moving? To recognize if the foe is camping or mobile, the heartbeat sensor needs to pulse multiple times. If hostile dots are moving in between each pulse, you can deduce where your enemy is headed and the direction that they are facing. This can open up a perfect opportunity for an unexpected attack from behind.

Don't forget that the heartbeat sensor picks up on enemies and nothing else. There could be a lot of walls and vehicles between you and a blip on the sensor. Make sure that you have a clean shot before dropping the sensor and moving in for the kill. Lastly, make sure to use the heartbeat sensor defensively. If there's somewhere nearby that you need to be, but can't risk running into enemies, use it to first check if the coast is clear.
