Warzone season three can now officially begin as players are getting their first official look at Verdansk '84.

Call of Duty followed in the footsteps of other BR games this week as it launched its biggest in-game event to date. It started on Wednesday and ushered in a brand new season while bringing the curtain down on season two. As expected, since the first look at the map was leaked weeks ago, Verdansk has been transported back to the 1980s. Spring time of 1984, to be exact.

The official launch trailer for the new-look map can be seen below, and it is playable now. A few lucky players were accidentally dropped into the new (or should that be old) Verdansk directly after part one of this week's nuclear event. However, everyone else has had to settle for doing battle on a nighttime version of Rebirth Island.

The first part of the event dropped players into Verdansk with one simple task: don't become a zombie. Once you did, you joined the horde and tracked down those who remained alive. Part two was a little different. It was effectively a race to see who would be the one to push the big button that launched the nuke which would end up destroying Verdansk, as well as its zombie infestation. Well, hopefully.

That's all over now though, and season three can finally begin. Back to the new map, and although it will feel familiar, a lot of it is very different. It's sort of like revisiting a place you went to as a child. You remember it, but it just doesn't feel the same. As was teased via the leak and yesterday's accidental reveal, the stadium is under construction, the dam has been replaced with an aqueduct, and the airport looks incredibly different.

Quarry has been replaced by the Krast Salt Mines, there's an area called Airplane factory right in the middle of the map, and areas such as Downtown and Superstore look very different. It's still the map you have been playing Warzone on for the past year, just not as you know it. Drop-in now and experience it for yourself, but be prepared for another sizeable download if you haven't dealt with that already.
