Wasteland 3 is a strategic RPG set in a post-nuclear world, where you control a squad attempting to rebuild society. With lots of character customization and branching paths, Wasteland 3 is worth checking out. This RPG can take a while to complete, so it's best to be prepared before exploring its dangerous world by wearing the best armor.
Although some attire choices are purely cosmetic in Wasteland 3, plenty of Armor Pieces provide invaluable protection and bonus effects. Individual Armor Pieces can be great, but it's best to find complete sets. There are many Armor Sets out there that work best for different builds. Here are the best Armor Sets that are worth scavenging the wasteland to find.
7 Bardic Armor Set
The Bardic Armor Set certainly isn't the most robust option, with its collective armor rating of 17, but this set is designed for those with a charisma focus. The collection consists of a Bardic Hat, Jacket, and Tights. The Bardic Hat will grant you an extension to your Leadership radius. It also gives you an experience bonus. The Bardic Jacket will provide you with a bonus to your charisma attribute, and the Bardic Tights grants a bonus to your Leadership skill. The set is excellent if you want to focus on charm and inspiring your allies to fight for you.
To claim this set, you first need to find the Arcade Console in the Bizarre Interior at Quarex's Museum. After realizing you cannot beat this arcade game, you must find Bard's Tale IV: Tips 'N Tricks. You'll find this book at Denver Airport. It's safely stored in a broken toaster. With the book, you'll now be able to beat the arcade game. Shortly after, a radio broadcast will inform you that a crate is waiting for you at Ranger HQ. The complete Bardic set will be inside.
6 Power Armor Set
The Power Armor Set is an excellent option for beginners of the game. Each piece of the set has a chance of being found in various crates around the map. You can also purchase the set at Ranger HQ, but only after you've met Angela Deth during the main questline. Alternatively, You can find the entire set at the Cannibal Jamboree. Here, Rollan Giff will reward you the Power Armor if you complete his Head Hunter quest.
No matter the morally ambiguous way you went about gaining the Power Armor, it has some excellent benefits. For starters, you'll get 43 Armor Points. The Chest Plate will also grant you a healing bonus, which can be a lifesaver. The cost of this benefit, though, is a minus ten to your Evasion stat. It is also worth noting that you'll need a level eight Strength stat to wear it without penalties, such as reduced combat speed and accuracy.
5 ChemTek Armor Set
The ChemTek Armor Set requires your Weird Science stat to be level six and your Strength stat to be level 4. Once you meet those requirements, this Armor Set is incredibly useful. It will give you 32 Armor Points, a healing bonus, and an increased resistance to poison. That isn't all. You'll also gain a new ability: Combat Stim, which provides you with an additional 2AP and a 15 percent hit chance increase for six turns. This is a tremendous advantage to have during a fight.
The complete set is collected from multiple locations. To find the ChemTek Legs, you must head to Santa's Workshop, Northwest of Ranger HQ. Inside Santa's Shed, you'll find the Legs in a crate. For the Chest Piece, find Sister Nancy Force at Denver Ruins to purchase it. Finally, head to the Dentist Office, outside of the Bizarre. After an initial fight, you can grab the Headpiece from the bodies.
4 Nuclear Armor Set
The Nuclear Armor Set is one of the strongest sets in the entire game. It requires you to have your Strength stat at level eight to avoid its failed requirement penalties, but as long as you meet this single requirement, the complete set will give you a whopping total of 61 Armor Points. Unfortunately, you are not rewarded with this set for quite some time.
There are two stages to unlocking it. First, you need to go to Downtown Colorado Springs and head into the Sans Luxe Apartments. In the first room on the left, you will meet Satoshi, who will ask you to look after a Mysterious Case. Do not open it (it would only give you a few pieces of scrap anyway). Instead, hold onto it for the rest of the game. Eventually, as you continue to follow the main storyline and leave Yuma County Speedway, Satoshi will approach you once more and ask for the case back. Return it to him, and he will reward you with the Nuclear Armor Set.
3 Exoskeleton Armor Set
To collect the complete Exoskeleton Armor Set, first head to the Abandoned Oil Well north of the Massacre Site. If you attack the Juvvies surrounding the Well, they will knock you unconscious. When you awaken, the Oil Well will be missing, and within the rubble will be the Exoskeleton Headpiece. For the Legs, you need to head to the Paint Mines. If you search the junk piles in the northwest of the cave, you'll find it.
The Chest Piece requires a few extra steps. You first need to find two action figures. The Poke Action Figure is found in the last room in Aspen, inside a toaster. The Peek Action Figure is found in another toaster located in Victory Buchanan's room at Broadmoor Heights. Bring the two action figures to Saul Buchanan, and he will reward you with the chest Piece.
This Armor set is perfect if you want to focus on melee combat skills. Alongside offering you a combined total of 53 Armor Points, it will increase the damage you deal with melee attacks by 50 percent. You will also unlock a new ability: Earthquake. This ability lets you smash the ground below you, stunning targets nearby. It's an excellent ability for those surrounded by foes. Remember, though, that the set does require a level three in Weird Science and a level seven in Strength to ensure you do not have any penalties.
2 Spectrum Assault Armor Set
After deciding on your starting squad, you also need to decide early on what kind of playstyle you want to focus on. If you do not wish to specialize in Strength, the Spectrum Assault Armor Set is an ideal choice, as it has no Strength requirements to wear. The full set offers 32 Armor Points. It also gives you bonuses for your chance of a Critical Hit and your Initiative Stat. Additionally, it increases both your Detection Time and your Combat Speed. These are all incredible bonuses, making the Armor worth the investment when you get the chance.
The best way to get the complete Spectrum Assault Armor Set is to wait until you can trade with Whetstone at Yuma Country Speedway. He even sells two complete sets of the Armor for you to purchase.
1 Verchitin Armor Set
The Verchitin Armor Set is the best in the game, providing you with 67 Armor Points. Not only that, but it gives you 25 percent resistance to cold, energy, and fire damage, making it perfect for defensive characters. As long as you have a level nine Strength stat, you will not have the failed requirement penalties either.
To gain access to the Verchitin Armor, you need to go on a quest to find five toaster parts. You will get the Power Cord at Broadmoor Heights, in the Wesson House Kitchen. The Toaster Case is in the kitchen at Hoon Homestead. The Mica Sheeting is found near the RV in the Paint Mines. The Nichrome Wire is located in the Welcome Lodge at Aspen. The Alloy Filament is in the main building at Knox Bison Ranch.
With all five parts collected, you'll be told where to find the Toaster Repair Academy on the map. At the academy, search the loot crates to find the complete Armor Set inside.
