Watch Dogs: Legion reviews are starting to trickle out now that its embargo is up, but it seems that a few outlets are having trouble completing Ubisoft's latest title – thanks to a bug that causes Xbox One X to overheat and shutdown.

Hilariously, the issue rears its ugly head during a mission called "404." Reviewers are reporting that a warning message flashes on the screen alerting them that the Xbox One X needs to shutdown due to high temperatures, before – well, shutting down. It's a feature built into the console to keep its components safe from extreme heat, and it's good to see that it's working. Otherwise, we may have had a lot of reviewers with burnt out Xboxes.

Over on PlayStation things are looking much better, with no reports of hot consoles or forced shutdowns.

Ubisoft is aware of the issue and is working on an update. "We're aware of this issue and there will be a hot fix due to be released on 30th October which should help," reads its official statement. There's no indication that other consoles are impacted by the issue, so you should be fine to pick it up tomorrow and start playing if you're not on the One X. Hopefully Ubisoft's patch sorts things out before the arrival of Series X next month, otherwise next-gen gaming could get off to a rocky start.

Our own review of Watch Dogs: Legion found it to be a solid entry in the series, but one that doesn't fully commit to its systems. As it stands, the title is "a good game that could have been a great game." Watch Dogs fans will probably find much to like with the dystopian adventure, but a few nagging issues – such as poor driving mechanics and various technical problems – hold it back from becoming a classic.

Watch Dogs: Legion will be available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Google Stadia on October 29, before heading over to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S when they launch next month..
