Ubisoft announced that Watch Dogs: Legion will be offering a free-to-play weekend starting on September 3. The event will be available on PS4, PS5, and through either the Ubisoft Store, Epic Games Store, or Stadia on PC.

The game is currently available for pre-load in anticipation of the event, which will run until September 5. Any progress you make during the free-play weekend will carry over to the full game if you decide to make a purchase.

A variety of sales will be available during the event, including discounts on both the base game and Season Pass:

  • PC via Ubisoft Store and Epic Games Store: 60 percent off the Standard, Deluxe, Gold, and Ultimate Editions, and 25 percent off the Season Pass.
  • PC via Stadia Pro: 55 percent off the Deluxe Edition and 50 percent off the Gold Edition.
  • PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4: 55 percent off the Deluxe Edition and 50 percent off the Gold Edition.

The only downside? Xbox players seem to have been left out of the fun.

Watch Dogs: Legion was released last year to fairly positive reviews, with critics and consumers praising its massive open-world, although it was held back by a litany of technical hiccups. Fans of the series will find much to love – and running around as a Granny that hijacks cars should be all the reason you need to check it out while it's free.
