You may remember Nickelodeon for cartoons like SpongeBob SquarePants and The Fairly OddParents, but the live action shows are also memorable shows on the network. They may not be as bouncy and colorful, but they provide actors we can easily recognize, funny jokes, and great lessons. We love seeing these live-action characters physically grow up as the shows progress, making us relate to them just like the cartoons.

These shows may seem kid-friendly at a first glance, but if you or someone older were to watch these shows, then you may catch some lines that can come off as not so innocent. They can range from references to the human anatomy or adult jokes that will make older people snicker. Some are subtle while others have to require some hard thinking to get it. Most of the shows happen to have the same creator, so there will be a lot of weird jokes.

Nevertheless, they still provide great entertainment, since younger fans can enjoy the shows innocently while the older fans can catch the jokes from a mile away. One actor once sang, “It’s gonna take some time to realize,” and maybe once those younger fans watch the show when they grow up a bit, then they will either laugh at how obvious it was now or maybe be a bit disturbed. But hey, everyone has a dirty mind once in a while, so it is all good! Here are twenty inappropriate things you never noticed un Nickelodeon live action shows!

17 What A Feeling

via: degrassi.wikia.com

In Victorious, a created by Dan Schneider (by the way, you will be seeing a most of his shows referenced here), here we have a show about a teenager named Tori who gets accepted into Hollywood Arts for her amazing talent as a singer. In the episode “The Great Ping Pong Scam,” Tori wants to join the ping pong team her friends are on since she does not believe them. When Jade refuses, Tori decides to find a way to spy on them. With that, she brings Sinjin into the janitor’s closet and asks him for her help. As a reward, she kisses him and after she does so, Sinjin says, “Here comes that feeling.” That is very strange to say, considering that he later had a dream where he and Tori were in the closet again, needing a “favor.” He is one thirsty nerd, to say the very least.

16 Holy Crab!

via: samandcat.wikia.com

iCarly is one of the most, if not, successful sitcoms on Nickelodeon. The characters are interesting and the concept is original and refreshing. While it does have the target audience, the jokes are something the older fans can catch a mile away. In this one, words that are inappropriate for kids’ television would be considered taboo, and iCarly is one of them that managed to make it sound like the word but by one letter off. For example, in "iThink They Kissed," Sam thinks Carly did something bad, which gets her excited and say, “Holy crab, I love this!” Since Sam said it rather fast, it sounded like she said “crap.” However, saying crab instead offers a funny moment and got parents complaining about the usage of the word when they were clearly mishearing it.

15 Clever Word Play

via: nick.com

While Game Shakers is not as funny as Drake and Josh and iCarly, you can always count on Dan Schneider to throw in some jokes without getting caught by the Nickelodeon executives. Game Shakers is about two girls named Babe and Kenzie who start their video game company in the seventh grade. Like with iCarly’s use of the word crab instead of crap, this entry goes way too risky. In the episode “Trip Steals the Jet,” Babe says, “What the duck!” If a parent were to hear a part of that while their kids were watching this episode, then they would probably never make them watch the show again. While it is funny and clever, that has to be one of Dan Schneider’s riskiest moves.

14 Quinn's Invention

zoey101.wikia.com

Zoey 101 stars Britney Spears’ younger sister Jamie Lynn Spears, and in this show, she plays the titular role who goes to a boarding school Pacific Coast Academy, or PCA for short. She encounters the normal teenage struggles such as dating cute boys, stressing over certain classes, and more. Out of all the shows Dan Schneider has created, this one has the least amount of jokes, but the ones that stand out are memorable. Quinn, one of Zoey’s friends and later roommate, invents a lot of creations that are either beneficial or end up going bad. In the episode “Logan Gets Cut Off,” Quinn created the Bra Bag, which helps girls have an airbag on their chest. When testing it, the gang claps and praises the invention, as Chase gives it an A+, while Michael sneakily says D+. Given the size, Michael would be more correct.

13 Awkward Position

Out of all the sitcoms, Dan Schneider has created, Henry Danger is probably the least impactful. While it starred a male actor again years after Drake and Josh aired, it could have had more punchlines and funny characters. However, what the creator excels at are the dirty jokes. In the pilot episode, “The Danger Begins,” Ray Manchester, who goes by his alter ego Captain Man, literally got down on one knee and put on the communication device for Henry, who has just started his superhero career. When he asked what the device on his wrist was for, Captain Man boldly answered, “It means we’re engaged.” The expression on Henry’s face was the same as ours. Thankfully, the older man was joking, but still, kinda creepy.

12 Kissed A Girl?

via: YouTube.com (ruinedchildhood)

Drake and Josh is no doubt Dan Schneider’s magnum opus. These stepbrothers make our days better as they get into crazy antics while dealing with their evil little sister Megan. And of course, there are tons of clever and amazing jokes that range from subtle to obvious. In the episode “I Love Sushi,” the boys wanted to do something for their parents’ anniversary, so they entered a contest from a TV show they have never heard of, and when they won, Drake grabs a random girl and kisses her. Josh did the same, but what he got was a surprise. The girl he kissed had a man’s voice, which surprised us just as well. It is possible that the woman is transgender, and there was no making fun of it, which was relieving, but not to Josh probably, since he was not chewing gum when the two of them kissed.

11 More Than A Bad Boy

via: makgriggs.tumblr.com

In Victorious, Cat is the adorable, yet ditzy redhead portrayed by Ariana Grande. Sometimes she says the most random things or asks irrelevant questions, but her singing is undeniably powerful. One of the interesting things Cat mentions throughout the show is her unseen older brother. It is a running gag for her to mention him, and it is bizarre but surprisingly enjoyable to hear. However, in “The Prom Wrecker,” she mentions that her brother managed to get gallons of actual blood instead of fake for Jade’s play called, “Clowns Don’t Bounce.” Not only does that sound very scary, but given the situations, he’s been in mentioned by Cat, it is possible that her brother might have some problems. Whether or not he is dangerous, it is amazing he has not been caught by the police for that.

10 She Was Not Talking About You

via: pinterest.com

In the television movie Drake and Josh Go Hollywood, it was thrilling and fun extended episode that takes place during the summer. Drake wants to find a gig while Josh needs to write an essay about his greatest adventure. That adventure was certainly a joyride due to what they accidentally did to Megan’s plane trip. She was supposed to go to Denver, Colorado to visit a friend, but the brothers ended up bringing her on the wrong plane. Once Megan heard she was going to Los Angeles instead, she tapped on the flight attendant’s shoulder and asked if the pilot made a mistake. When she tells Megan that they were indeed going to Los Angeles, Megan said to herself, “Those dumb boobs.” It was clear she was referencing her brothers, but the flight attendant thought otherwise when she heard her.

9 Someone Is Thirsty

via: YouTube.com (Obsev Entertainment)

The Amanda Show uses the Saturday Night Live elements, but make it appear during the day for kids to watch, and we absolutely love it! Amanda Bynes was the queen of 90s Nickelodeon and certainly had a name for herself for years to come. In one of the skits, “When People Attack,” Amanda talks about school mascots. One of the clips was a couple about to get married, but then the mascots attacked. The bride was being interviewed, claiming she has not seen her to-be husband since the attack. Then she goes out of her way to get closer to the camera and ask if there is any man out there. She also claims she is flexible, which shows just how very desperate she is.

8 Vegan Equals What?

via: YouTube.com (TheDiniforever)

Victorious appears yet again thanks to the one and only Dan Schneider. The episode this joke takes place in happens to be a tribute to The Breakfast Club with Tori and her friends getting detention by Mr. Dickers (oh, hey). As they waste their time there, they waited for Trina to give them tacos just to have something to snack on instead of tuna salad. As they got the food, Cat seems unsettled by eating a taco. Jade takes note of that and asks her if she is a vegan, later accusing Robbie the same thing. In The Breakfast Club, it is referencing Bender harassing Claire and Brian for being pure. The way Jade is portrayed in asking the two that question makes this joke not only funny but also bring clever wordplay.

7 What Kind of Stuff Did He Teach Her?

via: zoey101.wikia.com

When it comes to the characters in Zoey 101 regarding brains, Logan is definitely not a smart guy. He does have the money to convince teachers to pass him, which is a plus for him. However, he is a genius in chemistry, which is why in the episode “Zoey’s Tutor,” Zoey has to rely on Logan to help her pass chemistry. While the two were studying, Chase hides behind a bush to spy on them. From his perspective, it sounded like Zoey and Logan were planning to have some alone time, which in actuality, find a place to study chemistry. Once he heard enough, he confronts them. Zoey was shocked, but she tells Chase that she has learned so much from Logan. His reaction from what he is thinking about is not only hilarious, but poor Chase does not know the truth during that time.

6 Dance For Just Money?

via: YouTube.com (Nickelodeon Brasil)

Sam and Cat is a spin-off that sounds like a match made in heaven, right? It was strange idea coined by Dan Schneider, but the time it had on air was nice when it lasted. Just like with all of the shows made by Dan Schneider, this show has its fair share of jokes. This one is rather strange for referencing “dancing.” In “#SecretSafe,” Dice claims he was going to a poker game when Sam and Cat were babysitting him, but what he did instead was dance for a girl’s birthday party. He claims he was doing it for the money. With that said, it is no doubt that Dice was taking on a role of a male dancer, minus the unclothing. It is rather strange, but at least he is not going that far.

5 Got Too Excited?

via: drakeandjosh.wikia.com

Another joke from Drake and Josh just had to be included on here! This one was something that completely came out of nowhere, but if we were excited by big news, we would have done the same? What is that exactly? Well, when Drake managed to get tickets and backstage passes to see Oprah for Josh’s birthday, he flipped out and gave him a kiss. And yes, it was on the lips. It was timed perfectly with Megan taking a picture of the moment with the flash on, which made it look quick. Then again, she said she would post it on the internet. Even though the two have kissed before (not on the lips), these two thankfully only love each other on a brotherly level.

4 Dogs Can Do That?

via: YouTube.com (Obsev Entertainment)

One of the memorable moments in The Amanda Show would have to be the character Penelope Taynt, Amanda’s number one fan, please. Her devotion to Amanda is boundless, with herself creating the Amanda website, and even getting into the skits just to meet her. This joke is no different when trying to find Amanda. In order to get a track of her scent, Penelope hires a bloodhound. As she uses the dog to get a scent, she is led to backstage, and when she knocks on the door, she does not encounter Amanda. Instead, she encounters a Dancing Lobster. Due to her disappointment, Amanda’s number one fan said to the dog, “I ask for Amanda, and you give me crabs?” Just how can a dog do that exactly?

3 Goat What?

via: playbuzz.com

This joke has to be one of the funniest because the timing, the humor, and the acting made this stand out and make us laugh on the floor. In the Drake and Josh episode titled, “We’re Married,” Josh’s pen pal Yooka comes to visit from her home country. There, she bonds with Josh but is instantly attracted to Drake. When she gets “homesick” Josh does a friendship ceremony for the three of them, and it turned out to be a wedding ceremony for Drake and Yooka. Once her parents found out about the marriage, they travel to Drake and Josh’s home to meet the groom. In order to get a divorce, Josh makes meatballs, which happened to be made of goat, which is the foreigners’ sacred mammal. The three spit them out, only for the mother to say, “You served us goat balls?!” If you are not laughing, then how?

2 Bloopers Can Be Risky

via: livestarringyou.com, icarly.wikia.com

It is nice whenever we are treated to an episode of a sitcom that does not necessarily focus on the plot but gives us fanservice instead. In this entry, Big Time Rush and iCarly both share it due to having something in common. These two shows have actors that managed to stop themselves from swearing while on camera. iCarly’s Spencer Shay, portrayed by Jerry Trainor, stopped himself when he said the phrase, “Son of a—,“ and Big Time Rush’s Kendall portrayed by Kendall Schmidt nearly said a word that goes with “holy.” Due to their age, they tend to swear, but whenever you are filming a show catered to kids, that is when you need to be careful in order to pass the censors.

1 Parody Of A Novel Moms Like To Read

via: icarly.wikia.com

iCarly has so many jokes that range from the more sensual to use of bad language, but this inappropriate thing takes the cake for referencing a novel that's extremely graphic. If you guessed Fifty Shades of Grey, then you would be certainly correct! It was not even subtle, since you can see the parody of it being shown in the episode “iBust A Thief.” In that episode, the subplot is about Spencer trying to get one thousand points to earn a plush dolphin, and as Guppy, Gibby’s younger brother waits, he reads the parody of E.L. James’ infamous novel titled Nifty Shades of Beige. Not only is it a hilarious joke, but the expression on Guppy’s face pretty much explains what is going on in that novel.
