Twitch streamer Félix "xQc" Lengyel had his livestream of Welcome To The Game II hacked into and manipulated by one of the game’s developers. The developer occasionally streams under the name IndieHorrorDev.

xQc was in the middle of a standard play session of the game on Twitch when music started randomly playing in-game. The sound of “Dr. Disrespect – Gillette (The Best A Man Can Get)” by 199X filled the stream, and xQc was startled by it suddenly popping up in the middle of his playthrough. At first the streamer couldn’t figure out where the music was coming from, but his chat quickly pointed out he’d been hacked by the developer - much to his amusement.

According to Dot Esports, the developer had used the in-game computer to pull up the song on Youtube. After turning off the song the developer sent a message, through the same computer, notifying xQc’s chat that they were in control of what happened to the streamer. In the message they said, “If your chat spams 777, I will release the doll.”

xQc commented that he didn’t remember how to take down the doll as his chat spammed the number, but was confident he could figure it out. The developer continued to troll him throughout the stream with random songs like “Dr. Disrespect- Gachi Rave” and other hijinks, making it a memorable experience for xQc’s fans and the streamer himself.

Some viewers were a little unnerved that the developer had remote access to the game, and what that could mean about privacy and security. This becomes particularly apparent when you consider that Welcome To The Game II is not an online game yet it had a backdoor the developer could access and manipulate.

The majority of fans were pleased to see the developer has a continued interest in the game they created. Even though it’s been a few years, they’re still invested in making it a fun experience for players and aren’t afraid to have a little fun now and then.

Welcome To The Game II, developed by Reflect Studios, is currently available for $9.99 on Steam for Mac and PC.
