When you think of the Wii, you probably think of fun for the whole family. It's a console that dominated the industry when it launched back in 2006, mainly because it was marketed as a home console that even your grandma could enjoy. Even now, I bet most of you have a relative who has a Wii stashed away in an attic or a cupboard somewhere. However, elderly duo Jeanine (96) and Gilbert (85) weren't content to let their years spent swinging Wii Remotes go to waste. It turns out that these two are pretty handy at Wii Bowling, a minigame that many of you will remember from Wii Sports. The duo were recently sent to a Wii Bowling LAN tournament held by Gamers Assembly in France last weekend to represent their retirement home. Not only did they manage to actually compete against other duos, but they managed to win the entire thing and take home the grand prize.Related: Video Game Characters Who Would Suck At Wii BowlingFirst shared by esports reporter Jake Lucky on Twitter (thanks Insider Gaming), Jeanine took the Wii Remote in her hand knowing that a strike would win them the tournament. She adjusts her positioning, bravely swings the Wii Remote, and the ball flies down the lane and sends all the pins flying. Showing just how much the crowd and everyone involved in the tournament wanted Jeanine and Gilbert to win the entire thing, a rapturous applause explodes once the pins have been downed, and the duo rightfully celebrate their achievement.

In a separate video in the same thread, we also see the pair presented with an adorable trophy of a Wii Remote bursting out of a bowling pin, something that will likely take pride of place on the mantlepiece when Jeanine and Gilbert return to their retirement home as champions. If there's anything that we can take away from this heartwarming tale, it's that you're never too old to keep gaming as long as you have a passion for it.

In other Nintendo-related news, the company appears to be setting up its own live event this year now that the cancellation of E3 has been confirmed. Nintendo Live will take place in Seattle in September later this year, and will feature plenty of Switch games, live performances, demonstrations, and a whole lot more. It's also expected that the event will include gameplay demos of currently unannounced titles, as Nintendo is still yet to show what it has cooking for release in the latter half of 2023.
