GameMaster is the new reality TV show that looks like Big Brother for esports, but at least it’ll be hosted by Wil Wheaton.

This may come as a surprise to you, but Wil Wheaton used to do voice work in video games. They weren't exactly leading roles, though. For example, he was a random bystander voice in GTA V, and also the voice of the X-8 Robobrain in Fallout: New Vegas. But mostly, it's been Big Bang Theory cameos and random YouTube videos in recent years.

But it looks like Wil is about to get his big break. Starting in the spring of 2020, Wil will host GameMaster, a new reality TV show that pits 12 random gamers against one another for a $100,000 top prize.

The show itself is basically like Big Brother. Contestants from across the United States will all live in a house filled to the brim with spy cameras. Every week, contestants will play over two dozen games with the biggest loser heading home. The playing field will get whittled down to the final two where they'll battle it out for fame and $100k.

We don't know the contestants or games, but they'll hopefully be announced soon. The show will run for 9 episodes and feature "fan favorites, mortal enemies, awesome games, cool gear, and tremendous audiences."

GameMaster takes the love of gaming and elevates it to a whole new level through the first immersive, multi-platform, head-to-head competition for both casual and diehard gaming fans,” said show creator and executive producer John Colp. “Our players won’t play the same game from noon to night. They will play different games throughout and, at the end, the person who has the best cumulative score will be crowned the champion.”

Where can you watch GameMaster? Apparently it will stream on “all platforms,” which we assume at least includes Twitch and YouTube. Stay tuned for more details as we get them.
