Call of Duty: Warzone is Activision's magnum opus. It is the center around which all other Call of Duty games from here on out orbit. It is fitting, then, that the game would get an update for Halloween, particularly as Zombies are making a return with Black Ops: Cold War. All of this has some players wondering, "Will Warzone be haunted for Halloween?"

Unlike other battle royale games, like Fortnite or Apex Legends, Warzone has a more realistic style. Each game is played out in the fictional city of Verdansk, that's complete with parks, subway systems, skyscrapers, and even a stadium. This sprawling network of buildings and scenery is ripe for a spooky update—and one that'll really scare you.

Already, some players are even hearing the haunting sounds of children's laughter as they work their way around the city. Which is strange for a city that has exactly 0 civilians in it. Additionally, for months, there have been rumors of a night mode coming to the game.

The Haunting of Verdansk is the first confirmed seasonal event for Warzone, though no further details have been confirmed about what this event will bring to the game. All that we do know for sure, is that it will be released on October 20, just 11 days before Halloween and 20 days before Black Ops: Cold War comes out.

The timing probably isn't coincidental, especially because Zombies Royale is a thing and, by definition, needs to be played on a battle royale map. Halloween would be the perfect time to reveal the gameplay and scare up interest in Black Ops before it hits shelves just a week after Halloween. Couple all of that with bans on trick-or-treating and large Halloween parties and Activision has a recipe for marketing success.

While nothing's been confirmed, we can be confident that night will fall on Verdansk and zombies will be invading the city, forcing players to team up to fight against a bigger threat. What happens after Halloween is anyone's guess. No matter what, though, the Haunting of Verdansk is sure to be a hauntingly good time.
