As one of the biggest games yet to grace the Nintendo SwitchThe Witcher 3: Wild Hunt port has finally received a release date. Starting on October 15, players can balance the monster hunting and lady loving lifestyles of Geralt of Rivia on a handheld console for the first time, giving fans of the series a great chance to dive back into the game before Netflix's The Witcher television series is released.

The Witcher 3  releasing on the Switch serves as yet another milestone for the console, allowing another massive video game world to be explored on a handheld platform. Following games like Skyrim and The Legend of Zelda: Breathe of the WildThe Witcher 3 furthers the Switch's revolutionary status, as it continues to define what type of games can be accessible on a handheld system. Allowing players the chance to experience The Witcher 3 on the Switch gives many people an excuse to dive back into the game, because nothing sounds better than playing The Witcher 3  on the go.

After its original release back in 2015, The Witcher 3 received multiple game of the year awards, and is considered by many to be the most ambitious video game of its time. With an incredibly large map, hours on hours of side quests and other miscellaneous activities, the game is absolutely massive. The Witcher 3 takes players an average of fifty hours to complete, and that's while focusing only on story missions. Players who take their time and patiently explore the game's world can easily spend up to one hundred hours before finishing it. Given the game's detail and size, it's pretty incredible that it'll be on a handheld soon.

In order to fit such a large game on a such a small console, The Witcher 3 on Switch won't have the same visual definition as its 2015 counterpart. While docked and running on a television, the game will run at 720p, with 480p quality in its handheld form. Even with the low visual quality, the ability to experience the game's massive amount of content on a handheld console still proves to be attractive to many players. After all, graphics aren't always everything.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is slated to release on the Switch on October 15, just in time for Netflix's The Witcher series which is expected to release sometime this fall. It will contain all of the game's DLC, and will be available for purchase both digitally and physically. Although you'll probably want to pick up the physical copy if you don't want to have to archive all of your other games to make room.
