The Monster Hunter series is no stranger to crossovers, with the games that appeared on Nintendo consoles featuring costumes and weapons from series like Animal Crossing, Metroid, Super Mario, and The Legend of Zelda. These crossovers usually took the form of aesthetics, with the new items in question generally being less effective than the other gear that you can find in the game.

The next major crossover for the Monster Hunter series is going to offer a totally new experience for the game, as Geralt of Rivia from The Witcher franchise will be arriving in Monster Hunter World as part of a contract that involves his specialty - hunting monsters.

CD Projekt Red has revealed that you will actually be playing as Geralt in this expansion and will be able to utilize his unique magical abilities, weapons, and Witcher senses in battle.

A trailer for the PlayStation 4 version of the crossover has been uploaded to YouTube, with Doug Cockle returning to reprise the role of Geralt.

Monster Hunter World isn't the only game that is featuring a crossover with Geralt of Rivia, as he is also a playable character in Soulcalibur VI. There is also a Witcher TV show in development for Netflix, with Henry Cavill playing Geralt.

The regular in-game events have been appreciated by the fans, but there hasn't been much new content added to the game since its launch.

With the reveal that Geralt will be playable in Monster Hunter World as a whole new style of character, along with a significant DLC update coming at the end of 2019, it seems that there is still a lot more to come for Monster Hunter World in the future.

The Monster Hunter World The Witcher 3 crossover event will arrive in early 2019 for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of Monster Hunter World, with the update arriving at a later date for the PC version of the game.
