Two months after its release, The Witcher is still the most in-demand show worldwide. In the US, many people have already watched the first season and viewership is declining. It currently sits in third place in the US, behind Stranger Things and the Mandalorian in the top spot.

The data comes from Parrot, a company that analyzes a show's success based on "demand expressions." They take into consideration the engagement of the show, the viewership and the eagerness of people to watch it. According to the data, The Witcher has held on to the number one spot from January 14 until February 12, after taking over from The Mandalorian.

According to Business Insider, both The Mandalorian and The Witcher have been fighting it out since they premiered in November and December respectively. Both shows are based on popular source material and have existing fanbases that have contributed to their success. In recent years, there has also been a resurgence in sci-fi and fantasy shows, many of which have tie-in games and books.

Partly due to the success of Game of Thrones, streaming services like Netflix and Amazon and traditional broadcasters like HBO are throwing their weight behind many sci-fi and fantasy shows. Apart from The Witcher and The Mandalorian, other successful sci-fi and fantasy shows released in the last year include The Boys, Carnival Row, Good Omens, and See. Most of them have already been renewed for a second season and will join forthcoming shows like The Lord of the Rings, The Watch, and Earthsea which are on their way.

The Witcher is based on a collection of short stories by Andrzej Sapkowski. The story follows a witcher called Geralt of Rivia who is a monster hunter with supernatural abilities. Over the years it has become a worldwide sensation with spin-off novels, board games, card games, video games, and of course the show. The last game, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt was wildly successful and regarded as one of the best games of all time.
