Netflix has just dropped the debut trailer for The Witcher's third season, which will be the last for Henry Cavill as Geralt of Rivia. It is now officially confirmed that the third season will be split into two parts, with the first five episodes becoming available on Netflix from June 29, and the final three episodes coming on July 27.

Following the recent debut poster featuring Henry Cavill as Geralt, Anya Chalotra as Yennefer, and Freya Allan as Ciri, fans got a more detailed look at the upcoming premiere with this new teaser trailer. "Everything changes," the synopsis reads, and stakes are definitely getting higher this time. From another world, Wild Hunt begins its chase as Ciri and the White Wolf "understand real fear for the first time," as Geralt now has to pull off the impossible to protect those he cared about the most.

Aside from Geralt, Yennefer, and Ciri, other familiar faces make their appearance in the trailer as well, including Joey Batey as Jaskier, who get himself into trouble as always, and Chris Fulton as Rience, who'll do battle with the White Wolf in a major scene in the upcoming season. The focus of the story, however, is shifting more towards the Phantom Riders from a different world, also known as Wild Hunt. One particular shot shows just how menacingly this version of the elvish horsemen will look in the Netflix series, and judging from the teaser's darker tone, they'll live up to their infamy.

As for when we can expect The Witcher's third season, things are also different this time around. No more binge-watching on day one, as the show will be a two-part event. This is nothing new for Netflix these days, if you remember Stranger Things' last season, for example. As such, five out of eight episodes will be available for streaming on June 29, while the rest of the season won't be available until July 27.

The upcoming season will also be the last time we'll see Henry Cavill as Geralt. Starting from the fourth season, Liam Hemsworth will be replacing Cavill in the role, a change that has caused some controversy with fans. The Witcher remains one of the most popular Netflix shows ever, so it'll be interesting to see if the show can sustain that popularity without the actor who became synonymous with the role. Although The Witcher fans' memories can be somewhat short considering there was also some unhappiness when it was announced that Cavill would be taking on Geralt.
