Crusader Kings III is only in its first few weeks of release, and already the community has produced the best mod that will ever be made for Crusader Kings III. Unsubscribe from every mod you’ve downloaded for the game, because nothing will ever top floor-length wizard beards.
Move over, Gandalf! Time’s up, Dumbledore! It's Crusader Kings’ turn in the ring with the Hair & Beard Variants mod by Steam user Clepta. The mod offers a variety of new hair and beard options for your Crusader Kings characters. Female characters will have access to eight new hairstyles with no jewelry, while male characters get nine new beard variants.
But while the new hair and beard options are really quite stylish, the star of this mod has to be the floor-length wizard beard. Not only is it long enough to use as drapery, but it’s also so bushy that any character using the wizard beard cosmetic won’t need to wear clothes to maintain their dignity: the beard hides all the important bits. Not that you can normally access that in-game without mods to make your character nude, but players have already jumped the gun on that corner of the game's modding community.
Furthermore, the beard looks to be applicable to male characters of all ages. That means you could have your toddler running around with a beard twice as long as he is tall; pair that up with the fact that the base game lets you dress up children as Crusaders, and your serious business Crusader Kings run might not be so serious after all.
Unfortunately, the beard can only be appreciated in portrait mode. If you click out to play, you’ll find that your character isn’t actually dragging around ten pounds of facial hair. Additionally, Clepta has noted that the mod isn’t fully complete and that the hairstyles and beards aren’t totally rigged for crowns, caps, and all face types. Still, this is a great mod for general and comedic use. Definitely keep an eye out for further updates!
