Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty, the action RPG set in a Three Kingdoms-era China, is a fast-paced adventure full of monstrous enemies to cut your way through. The combat-heavy Souls-like throws normal foes and fictional beasts alike at you, but you'll have plenty of tools and weapons at your disposal to take them down.
Throughout the game, you'll equip weapons two at a time, enabling you to combine different combat styles and effects to slice and dice anything in your path. Here are some of the best weapons to use together that are present in Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty.
7 Sword And Slashing Spear
One of the earliest weapons you experience in Wo Long will undoubtedly be the standard sword. A surprisingly thrust-heavy move set lends itself to solo battles, making it easy to fend off threats one at a time. The sword may sound like the most basic option, but it has its strengths, much like every weapon type in the game.
To balance out the sword's abilities, the slashing spear weapons are a great secondary choice. These spears, outfitted with curved blades at their ends, have the same excellent range as a standard spear while also housing a host of sweeping attacks that make them ideal for group fights.
6 Curved Sabre And Halberd
Curved sabres are the curved version of the game's speedy sabres, a slick sword type that's great for overwhelming enemies. Quick and agile, these recognizable weapons attack vertically with wide-ranging cuts, helping you clear out overwhelming situations in a pinch.
The curved sabre pairs very well with the halberd, the popular poled blade with a midrange moveset. After clearing the crowd with your curved blade, the halberd allows for a controlled and calculated approach, giving you a bit of range and power to help bring fights back into your favor.
5 Straight Sabre And Glaive
Straight sabres are something of a combination between the standard sword and the curved sabre. Their attacks are a bit wider than the average sword, while they can be more focused than the curved sabre, allowing for a focused striking pattern that still grants you some protection from crowds.
The straight sabre makes up for many of the weaknesses found in the game's glaive weapons. These large, powerful weapons can cut through groups of enemies with ease, but their slow and fairly punishable attacks may leave you vulnerable to counters. Pairing a glaive with a straight sabre helps both weapons maximize on the others' shortcomings.
4 Dual Halberd And Glaive
Although the standard halberd is a fair bit bigger than the average sword or sabre, the dual halberds fight somewhat similarly to the dual swords and dual sabres, albeit with their own unique move set. One of the more vertically-focused dual weapons in Wo Long, these twin halberds can still handle a fair amount of width with their attacks, but they can truly shine when targeting a singular enemy.
The dual halberd weapon makes for a good pairing with the similarly unique glaive, as the staff-sabre hybrid is a longer-ranged weapon with wider attacks. The glaive has its own individual style of play, with a fair balance of power and reach making it a solid choice in most scenarios. Use your glaive to take command of the situation, and then jump in with your dual halberds for the final confrontation.
3 Hammer And Dual Swords
One of the largest weapon types in Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty, the hammer is a behemoth of a combat tool. These heavy weapons have large, booming attacks that can send enemies stumbling back, sometimes long enough to hit them multiple times before they're able to recover.
After dominating your foes with a massive hammer, pulling out a pair of dual swords will give you plenty of opportunity to capitalize on their staggered state. While your two blades may not pack the most damage, they swing rapidly and hit more than once, giving you the perfect weapon to slice and dice the beasts you've just knocked backward.
2 Spear And Poleaxe
While they may lack the sweeping slashes of the slashing spear, the standard spear still comes equipped with a healthy amount of range and a variety of crowd-clearing moves. Its thrusting attacks also make the spear a fantastic weapon for managing the distance between you and your opponents.
Combining the spear with the poleaxe is one way to take full advantage of the spear's abilities. These are large, heavy weapons, much like hammers, except they come equipped with a massive axe attached. Still, they have movesets similar to the hammer, which means they'll leave combatants vulnerable for your long-ranged stabs and cuts.
1 Staff And Dual Sabres
The staff is one of Wo Long's more versatile weapons. With breakneck spinning attacks that pack a solid punch and an impressive amount of range, the staff is a great choice if your focus is on mobility. No other weapon causes your character to move around quite as much as the game's staves.
Sticking with a similar play style, the dual sabres provide a similar type of spinning, slashing gameplay, with large attacks that hit in a wide, close-range area. Take the dual sabre's up-close-and-personal barrage of cuts and combine them with the staff's brutal bludgeoning from afar, and you'll be difficult to touch.
