11 Weapon X - A Gritty Origin

Insomniac Wolverine Weapon X

Ask any Wolverine fan, and they'll know about Weapon X, and all the tales of Logan getting his adamantium claws and skeleton. It's a dark and gritty story showcasing how Logan got his physical upgrade, but it's also well known for traumatizing Logan for years afterward.

Weapon X tortured Logan and turned the drifter into a weapon of mass destruction until he escaped their clutches. While Weapon X is a story that's been done to death in all of Wolverine's media appearances, you can't deny the impact of this story. It has constantly been a horrific memory for Logan, one that should at least make an appearance in the game.

10 Enemy Of The State - Controlled Chaos

Insomniac Wolverine Enemy of the State

Weapon X isn't the only group that tried to take control and use Logan as a weapon. In Enemy of the State, Logan is tortured and brainwashed by The Hand and Hydra, and is forced to wage war against SHIELD and other government organizations of the world.

After a battle with Elektra, Logan is finally cured, and he works alongside Nick Fury to hunt down the monsters that sought to harness his rage. The story is a reminder of how dangerous a Logan without morals can be, and Logan's personal war with Hydra and The Hand could provide some unique stories and battles in the game.

9 Not Dead Yet - Wolverine Goes Jason Bourne

Insomniac Wolverine Not Dead Yet

In his lengthy, lengthy life, Logan has worked a variety of occupations. Logan's history as a spy and eye-patch wearing secret agent is perhaps his most overlooked occupation, and Not Dead Yet is a story that tackles this job in a very cinematic and action packed style.

The story surrounds a mercenary from Logan's past haunting the mutant, attacking his friends and family. Logan is forced to go on the run, avoiding the hitman's traps while remembering the past. A classic spy story, Not Dead Yet is a hidden gem that could easily add a unique flair to Wolverine's main story or even some side missions.

8 Vicious Circle - Up Against The Hulk

Insomniac Wolverine Vicious Circle

Some of Marvel's most volatile and brutal rivalries have revolved around The Hulk and Wolverine, so it's no surprise that they've battled multiple times. In fact, Logan debuted in an issue of Hulk, battling the green giant in a ruthless brawl.

Vicious Circle sets up a much anticipated rematch between Hulk and Logan, who is now a much more developed and intricate character in this battle. It's a great look at Logan's unbreakable spirit and his perspective on why he fights, and a battle against the Hulk in Insomniac's game would be a violent dream come true.

7 Wolverine Goes To Hell - Wolverine's Revenge

Insomniac Wolverine's Revenge

A part of the "Wolverine Goes To Hell" saga, Wolverine's Revenge solidifies the fact that Logan isn't exactly a good man, he's often been the opposite. After returning from Hell, Logan hunts for the Red Right Hand, a collective of citizens literally hellbent on hurting Logan. They are all people, or descendants of people, whose lives were ruined by Logan.

Logan tears through the group's team of warriors known as the Mongrels, only to find the collective dead in a mass suicide. The group's founder reveals that they didn't want Logan to have the satisfaction of killing them, then reveals that the Mongrels Logan killed were all Logan's illegitimate children. It's a haunting story that scars Logan for a long time.

6 Wolverine: Origins and Endings - Born In Blood

Insomniac Wolverine Origins and Endings

This story stands out since it also has Logan using the amazing Muramasa Blade, a sword forged in Japan using Logan's blood and soul (literally), made to hone Logan's rage and strong enough to even kill the mutant himself. It's a fantastic weapon in Logan's arsenal and alongside the hit list styled storyline, it could make for an amazing saga in Insomniac's game.

5 X-23: Target X - Ghosts of The Past

Insomniac Wolverine X-23 Target X

Laura Kinney, better known as X-23 or the All-New Wolverine, has become a huge part of Logan's legacy. She could easily be a great supporting character in Insomniac's take on Wolverine, mirroring Miles and Peter's relationship or taking a more heartfelt approach to this duo.

X-23: Target X follows Laura as she tries to piece together her own traumatic life, from the death of her mother, her life as an experiment, her relationship with heroes like Captain America and her hunt for Logan. It's a great character analysis that could easily be a vital part of Insomniac's Laura, and her journey towards becoming a hero or anti-hero.

4 Death Of Wolverine - An Astonishing Send-off

Insomniac Wolverine Death of Wolverine

Now, nobody is telling Insomniac to kill Logan in his first adventure, but this story ranks so high because of how simple and effective it is. The storyline follows Logan, now lacking his healing factor, being hunted after Weapon X's founder put a bounty on his head. Battling enemies old and new, Logan finally meets his creator.

Logan takes down Weapon X for good, at the cost of his own life. It's a beautiful, somber and poetic end to the painful life of the Wolverine, one that easily sets up a variety of new heroes and villains. If Insomniac wants to introduce new heroes to carry on Logan's legacy, there's no better inspiration than this.

3 Uncanny X-Force: Final Execution - The Death of Daken

Insomniac Wolverine Uncanny X-Force

Logan's estranged son, Daken, has had a rough life like his father. The child of Logan and his wife in Japan, Itsu, Daken's mother was killed by the Winter Soldier before his birth. Logan was led to believe his son was killed, and Daken was instead tortured and raised as a monster, harboring a hatred for his father.

In Uncanny X-Force: Final Execution, this love-hate relationship came to an end when Logan and the X-Force battled Daken's Brotherhood. A future version of Logan warns the main timeline's Logan that Daken must die, or the Brotherhood will become far too dangerous. Logan kills his son in a heartbreaking, regret filled battle, one that Insomniac could easily do justice to.

2 Wolverine: 24 Hours - A Never Ending Rivalry

Insomniac Wolverine 24 Hours

Chris Claremont's work with Wolverine is absolutely legendary, as he built Logan's mythos and developed his character to a new level. His work with the raging Canadian has tackled a variety of topics, from his time in Japan to his lost loved ones. 24 Hours is a small, haunting story, one that defines Sabretooth and Wolverine's rivalry and the hate they have for each other.

As Logan deals with some hunters, he remembers when his girlfriend Silverfox was massacred by Creed on Logan's birthday. Since then, Creed has made it a tradition to hurt Logan on his birthday, all just to see how much he can hurt his rival. The next day, Logan finds the hunters killed, with a note from Creed talking about how only he can kill Logan. Absolutely sadistic.

1 Origin - Days Long Forgotten

Insomniac Wolverine Origin

Not much is set in stone regarding Logan's origin, and the constant wear and tear have even rendered Logan's mind an unreliable home for his memories. 2002's Wolverine: Origin tackles Logan's rough past, and his childhood and upbringing as James Howlett. As time goes on, James' life starts to fall apart, and the tragedies in his life continue to grow.

No game has ever really tackled Logan's youth and the pain he faced on his early road. Sequences and storylines that tackle Logan's early life could be a great addition to Insomniac's game, adding more tragic layers to Wolverine's heartbreaking life.
