Announced earlier today, publisher Super.com and developer Busan Sanai Games have revealed the release window for the upcoming paranormal stealth-action adventure, Wonhon: A Vengeful Spirit.

The game is set for a Q2 2021 release and will be released on PC via Steam.

In Wonhon: A Vengeful Spirit, players take control of a young Korean girl who seeks revenge against those responsible for the murder of her and her family during a military conflict of 1920’s-Korea. The girl makes a deal with Jeoseung Saja, the God of Death, who in turn returns her to the world of the living and gives her the paranormal ability to turn into a ghost and possess mortal creatures. Of course, it won’t be as easy as it sounds, as the deal comes with paranormal ramifications of its own, forcing the young girl to contend with both the living as well as other paranormal threats.

A gameplay trailer shows off a simple, yet gorgeous-looking atmosphere with players taking control of the girl from a top-down perspective as she possesses the bodies of soldiers, using their firearms to take out other soldiers. She can also possess the bodies of animals, like the wolf that is shown tearing apart a patrolling soldier.

That said, the driving mechanic of the game is stealth, with players needing to move covertly and plan every step along the way. This is especially important since a single bullet will drop the girl, forcing players to restart the level from the beginning. Additionally, there are no power-ups or upgradable abilities, as enemies always being stronger than the girl is an intentional design, forcing players to really focus in on stealth gameplay.

In addition to the release window being announced, a free Prologue version of Wonhon: A Vengeful Spirit was also released and can be played right now on Steam.

“We are pleased to release the Prologue of Wonhon: A Vengeful Spirit, on Steam today,” said Anna Grigoreva, Publishing Director of Super.com. “This will be a great introduction to Wonhon’s story and gameplay, and we’re excited to see how players respond to our story of supernatural vengeance!”

Be sure to check out the Wonhon: A Vengeful Spirit Prologue before the full game releases later this year.
