The online free-to-play multiplayer wargame World of Tanks is getting a tabletop version this September. The World of Tanks: Miniatures Game will allow you to take command of an armored platoon and engage your friends in tabletop metal mayhem without the hassles of online play.
The World of Tanks: Miniatures Game Starter Set will contain a set of four miniature plastic painted tanks, already assembled and ready to play. As in the online version, the tanks included in the Starter Set are accurately modeled and detailed after their historical counterparts. The tanks that will come with the Starter Set are the British Cromwell, the U.S. M4 Sherman, the German PZ.KPFW. IV AUSF. H, and the Soviet T-34.
The Starter Set is being released as part of Wave 1, and is being developed by famed game makers Gale Force Nine and Wargaming.net. Included in Wave 1 will be four more miniature tanks which are scheduled to be in stock on the Gale Force Nine webstore in September: the U.S. M3 Lee, the German Sturmgeschütz III AUSF G, the Soviet SU-100, and the British Valentine.
Also included in the Starter Set are tank cards with combat stats and special rules for each tank. A deck of 31 cards with stats for tank crew members, tank modules, and tank upgrades, terrain and game tokens, and six custom World of Tanks dice will also be included. Each Starter Set will also include bonus cards for you to redeem for use in the World of Tanks online version.
A 24-page full-color rulebook will come with the Starter Set, and the developers are planning a schedule to release additional blister packs for players to expand and customize their tank platoons. These blister packs will include another miniature tank with stat card, five Crew, Module, and Upgrade cards, and more bonus codes. The Crew and other cards will be named, and will only be available in these blister packs.
