A day before BlizzConline is set to kick off, details for World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade Classic have leaked on Twitter. The information, which was posted by WOWHead, was sourced from a BlizzConline press kit.

"Journey through the Dark Portal once again in World of Warcraft: Burning Crusade Classic!" the press release reads. "Originally released in January 2007, The Burning Crusade summoned the heroes of Azeroth to the shattered and fel-scarred realm of Outland to stop an invasion of the demonic Burning Legion.

"In 2021, Blizzard Entertainment's recreation of the first World of Warcraft expansion will give players from around the world a chance to return to Outland as it once was to relive an era of timeless adventure - or experience what awaits beyond the Dark Portal for the first time."

According to the leak, Burning Crusade Classic will work like the original WOW Classic did for the Eastern Kingdoms and Kalimdor. The game will launch as the original expansion and get regular content patches with Burning Crusade patch content, including the Black Temple raid, Zul'Aman, and the Sunwell. The release also reveals that players will be able to choose the era in which they play and confirms that the game will be free for players with an active WOW subscription.

World of Warcraft Classic, a 2019 MMORPG recreates 2014’s World of Warcraft before the release of the first expansion, The Burning Crusade, in 2017. Last March, Blizzard sent out a survey to World of Warcraft Classic players to determine their interest in a Classic Burning Crusade game.

The survey asked how players would like to approach a new character in Classic Burning Crusade, with the following options:

  • Continue playing my current Classic character on my existing server as it progresses to the Burning Crusade expansion, with the option to transfer to a Classic server that will never progress past level 60.
  • Start a brand-new character from level 58 on a new Burning Crusade server.
  • Start a brand-new character from Level 1 on a new Burning Crusade server.
  • Continue playing my current Classic character on my existing server that will never progress past level 60, with the option to transfer to a Burning Crusade server.

BlizzConline's opening ceremony begins on Friday, February 19 at 2 pm PST.
