World of Warcraft's Dragonflight expansion has breathed new life into this utterly ancient MMORPG, adding a new race, new stories, and a new area to explore. It also added a new mount that you can only get by dying and filling a barrel with fish. But the content drops won't end at secret, fish-birhed mounts. Blizzard has big plans for Dragonflight in 2023, with big seasonal content drops planned throughout the year.

"In planning out the road ahead following the release of Dragonflight, we've been mindful of the duty we owe our players to nurture this living world and, frankly, the need to do better than we have at times in the recent past," Blizzard wrote in its recently-released 2023 roadmap. "Our goal for Dragonflight is that there should always be something right around the corner, with a new update hitting our test realms shortly after the last one is live and in your hands."

The fun starts with the winter 10.0.5 patch, which will add a new trading post where players can earn a "wide range of cosmetic rewards of their choice." Players will also be able to turn their common or poor-quality items into armor transmog cosmetics in order to make a sleeper character. A new area, Primalist Tomorrow, will also arrive for players to explore.

The spring 10.0.7 patch (which becomes available on the test server as soon as the winter patch hits the live servers) will add a new quest campaign and repeatable content in Forbidden Reach as the dracthyr return to their slumber. There will also be new quests for Orc and Human cosmetic Heritage armor, updates to the recurring seasonal holidays, and more.

Sometime later in the spring will mark the beginning of Dragonflight Season 2, update 10.1, which will bring a new zone, a new raid, a new PvP season, a new Mythic+ dungeon pool, updates to professions, and UI improvements that are currently being tinkered with. Then comes the summer patch with a new Megadudgeon, new world events, and content & systems updates, and then the fall patch with new story quests and a holiday refresh. After that, the Season 3 update comes in patch 10.2 with another new zone, a new raid, and a new PvP season.

Stay tuned to World of Warcraft’s socials for when the winter update drops first.
