It’s no secret that World of Warcraft: Dragonflight is a wonderful expansion and an excellent step in the right direction in terms of game design and narrative. It is clear that the game developers are putting a greater emphasis on valuing our time as players and incorporating our feedback.

That said, as good as Dragonflight is, there are still a few improvements that can be made that would turn this expansion into an even better one. The following list is no way of saying this expansion is bad (quite the contrary), but rather a way to offer some critiques to improve it. Also, if you’re new to Dragonflight (or WoW in general), don’t forget to check out these tips for returning players.

8 Improve Leveling Pre-60

As amazing as Dragonflight is, with all its improvements to the game, the leveling experience remains the same. While this isn’t necessarily a bad thing, it certainly can be changed, as especially for new players, you’d want them to be exposed to the best the game has to offer outright. Instead, once they get out of Exiles Reach (a phenomenal starter experience), they are thrown into a part of the game from level 10 to 60 that is nowhere near as good as it is in Dragonflight.

7 Fix The Strafing Bug

If you’ve been playing Dragonflight, you’ve probably encountered the strafing bug at one point or another. If you haven’t, then count yourself lucky; randomly after getting off your Dragonriding mount, players would no longer be able to strafe.

While this could usually be fixed with a simple “/reload,” it was still quite annoying to deal with. So if this bug could be fixed and never return, that would make Dragonriding that much better.

6 Access To All Mythic Plus Dungeons At Other Difficulties

WoW Halls of Valor

Season one of Dragonflight brought back four dungeons from past expansions to replace four of the Dragonflight dungeons in Mythic Plus. Season two of Dragonflight will see the other four Dragonflight dungeons in Mythic Plus, plus four different dungeons from past expansions. While this is cool, not everyone playing Dragonflight played during all the past expansions.

As such, some of the Mythic Plus dungeons will be brand new to them, and they’ll be at a serious disadvantage when doing them at Mythic Plus difficulty. After all, you can practice all the Dragonflight dungeons at normal, heroic, and regular mythic difficulties to prepare for Mythic Plus. The same cannot be said for the Mythic Plus dungeons of past expansions (Timewalking doesn’t count).

5 Master Loot For All Difficulties

Master Loot should be available for all difficulties, and it’s as simple as that. Group Loot is nice and all, and it’s amazing that all the trading restrictions within groups were removed regarding gear trading, but Master Loot remains an excellent tool for guilds.

It just makes things easier all around and ensures that, within the groups of people who want to use Master Loot, the gear goes to those most deserving.

4 Make Reputations Account-Wide

Reputation rewards Wrath of the Lich King

Many features of Dragonflight are account-wide, making it all the more appealing to create alt characters. However, reputations are still missing from this account-wide checklist, which is a bit disappointing considering how willing the developers have been regarding account-wide features in general.

The account-wide boosts to reputations in Dragonflight are nice and all, but what about all the other reputations that our mains have brought to Exalted?

3 Easier Wipe-Recovery In Raids

WoW Vault of the Incarnates raid entrance

This is something the community has harped on time and time again, and rightfully so. When you and your group wipe on a boss in a raid, what should happen once the boss resets is you respawn right in front of them with all your buffs still applied. Instead (if there’s no one alive to resurrect you), you have to corpse-run back to the raid entrance, walk back to the boss, wait for everyone else to do the same, and then reapply all your buffs. What should take 30 seconds ends up taking 5-10 minutes.

And if someone or multiple people leave the raid group for whatever reason? Time to run back to the raid entrance to summon the new people. And then you need to run back to the boss and make sure the new person/people have all their buffs applied too. Granted, Warlocks make this process easier, but what if there’s no Warlock in your group? They shouldn’t be the only class with the ability to summon people. This is needless friction.

2 Fix The Zone-Wide Lag

As amazing as the community events are across the Dragon Isles, something needs to be done about the zone-wide lag that ends up resulting from this. The best zone in Dragonflight, The Azure Span, suffers the most from zone-wide lag as you have hordes of people cooking soup for the Iskaara Tuskarr and farming out reputation for the Cobalt Assembly at the same time.

Some days the lag is bearable, and other days it barely allows you to play the game. While it is a good thing that so many people are playing WoW, the lag born of this needs to be fixed.

1 A Little More Class Tuning

World Of Warcraft: Dragonflight - Assassination Rogue in Combat

Admittedly, this isn’t that big of a deal for most of us, but it certainly can be for those of us whose mains are the classes that still feel really underwhelming. The talent trees are incredible. However, there are still a few specializations that are struggling big-time in certain areas of the game when compared to their counterparts. Class balance is one of the hardest things to get right in a game as big as World of Warcraft, but if this can be fixed, the game will be much better off, without a doubt.
