With the release of World of Warcraft: Dragonflight, new wild pets have been added to capture around the Dragon Isles. There are 11 pets to collect from vendors, quest rewards, achievement goodies, and more! Whether you're an avid pet battle master, experienced tamer, or you just saw a pet you find cute, we’re going to guide you in capturing those adorable little beasties.

You may be planning on taming pets as you level through the different zones. If this is the case, we’ve listed our guide based on the flow of the storyline through four Dragon Isles zones in a particular order.

We’ll be using co-ordinates for locations, so we strongly advise downloading the Co-ordinates add-on by TomCat Tours. You can download this add-on via Curse Forge.

The Waking Shores Battle Pets

The Waking Shores is where you’ll first step foot on the Dragon Isles. (Unless you’re a Dracthyr, then you technically started at the Forbidden Reach.) Either way, this is where you’ll begin the main campaign. You’ll be plunged into the lore of the red and black dragonflights.

As you explore, you’ll be finding some familiar pets and brand-new ones. Here are all the new battle pets available in The Waking Shores:

Wild Battle Pets Located In The Waking Shores

Around The Waking Shores, you’ll be able to catch a variety of wild pets. These include:

Ironbeak Duck	Flying	Plenty can be found by the water, south of the Wingrest Embassy around 77.51, west of the Skytop Observatory.	Scattered around the Ohn’ahran Plains.
Kindlet	Elemental	Mostly scattered around Scalecracker Keep close to lava.	Thaldraszus and The Azure Span.
Magma Slug	Elemental	Several can be found at 77.30, with some being on a lower level of a lavafall near Scalecracker Keep.
Wild Duckling	Aquatic	Can be spotted around the Ruby Life Pools.	Ohn’ahran Plains and Thaldraszus.
Vorquin Runt	Beast	Very common around 20.89 and 62.43.	Thaldraszus and The Azure Span.
Thunderfoot Calf	Beast	Can be found in a tiny cave at 45.35.
Swoglet	Aquatic	Scattered all over, usually found near water.	All zones.
Shyfly	Flying	Found just north of the Dragonscale Basecamp (38.81).
Snowlemental	Elemental	Found in the snowy area just south of the Ruby Life Pools.	The Azure Span.
Storm-Touched Stomper	Beast	Scalecracker Keep and Obsidian Citadel, during a Primal Storm.
Scruffy Ottuk	Aquatic	Mostly found near water.	The Azure Span and Ohn’ahran Plains.
Pricklefury Hare	Critter	Most common around the Wingrest Embassy.	All zones.
Palamanther	Aquatic	Mostly found near water.	All zones.
Plucky Duckling	Aquatic	Have been spotted near the Ruby Life Pools at 57.71. You may need to kill Wild Ducklings for a Plucky Duckling to spawn.	Valdrakken and the Ohn'ahran Plains.

The Waking Shores Treasure Battle Pets

The Waking Shores also has a few pets that can be found as part of treasures.

Azure Frillfish

Firstly, you’ll need an item called A Guide to Rare Fish. These can be found across the Dragon Isles in crates or Disturbed Dirt. The closest ones (Reed Chests) can be found at the Restless Wetlands, scattered around the campsite just south of Wingrest Embassy around 80.44. Once you collect the item, go to 40.41, and you’ll be able to interact with a glowing Fragrant Plant. This then allows you to interact with a Bubble Drifter, swimming in the sea close to the plant. Once you do, you’ll receive your Azure Frillfish!

Roseate Hopper

Location: Found in a cave at 64.69, north-east of the Ruby Life Pools, guarded by a big ol’ Possessive Hornswog. To get passed this chonker, you’ll need:

Well-Preserved Bone (66.55) - This bone can be found at the top of a ruined tower in the Life Vault Ruins.
Adventurer's Lost Soap Bar (39.84) - Go to the Wild Preserve camp. By the river, there’s a water vat with the item inside.
Marmoni's Prize (47.83) - At the Dragonscale Basecamp, look at the pile of boxes behind the tent next to the flight master. Inside one of the boxes, you’ll see a banana (Marmoni's Prize).

To the left of the Possessive Hornswog, you’ll see a rock that opens the book Observant Riddles: A Field Guide. Right-click on the items to combine them, which will give you Observant Riddle “Treat”. When you throw it at the Hornswog, it’ll hop away, and you’ll have access to the cave. Inside you’ll find a box, Hidden Hornswog Hostage. Your new Roseate Hopper will be found inside the treasure!

Bugbiter Tortoise

For this pet, you’ll need to begin with finding an Eroded Fossil and a Petrified Dragon Egg. These are located around waterfalls and caves. However, they both appear within the Apex Canopy, but they seem to have low spawn rates. It’s worth checking any cave you come across for these illusive items.

When you do locate them, you can exchange them for the Bugbiter Tortoise via Cymre Brightblade (22.95). This NPC will only appear when the world quest, Brightblade’s Bones, is active - so keep an eye out!

Vendor Battle Pets

The Waking Shores Quest Battle Pets

Black Skitterbug And Gray Marmoni

The Black Skitterbug and Gray Marmoni pets are rewards from the quest The Basecamp 'Pets'. You will need to be Renown Level 11 with the Dragonscale Expedition before this quest will become available. This quest is part of the Dragonscale Expedition Renown quest chain, which starts with Pathfinder Jeb (42.83). Although you can only choose one as your quest reward, they are both available to purchase from Cataloger Jakes (47.82).

Spyragos

This little cutie was clearly inspired by Spyro the Dragon with his on the nose name and unique purple scales. To get this troublemaker, you’ll need to complete the quest A Dragon’s Day Off. This can be found from an NPC called Vazillia at the Hissing Grotto (20.39). She’s a black dragon that will land every minute or so, but will only appear if you’ve completed Wrathion’s Gambit. The quest involves finding a selection of exotic beverages, these are:

Riptide Brew	Go to 63.79, near the Ruby Lifepools. This location will be inside a cave where you’ll need to defeat a skeleton pirate and steal his brew from a large container.
Slam Bam Swill	Go to 46.30. You’ll find this beverage in a tree between the Kite Adventurer NPCs.
Popfizz Punch	Go to 39.38 where you’ll find a shipwreck. You’ll be able to find the brew near the water’s edge of the sunken deck.
Stealthy Elden Wine	Go to 25.55 and speak with Outfitter Tipech. You’ll be able to buy the drink from this Tauren.
Happy Trigger Sour and Whirlwind Wine	Go to 43.67 within the Obsidian Bulwark and locate the NPC Firstmate Kaleson. You can purchase the sour from him. Then, right next to him is Kora Fullsails. You can buy Kul’Tiran Red from her. Next, fly over to the Skytop Observatory and locate some air elementals within the Restless Wetlands (76. 47). You’ll be able to throw the Kul’Tiran Red at a Rampaging Wind. Then, it will throw back a Whirlwind Wine straight into your bag. P.S. Make sure you have bag space!
Flameslinger Rum	Finally, for this last step you’ll need to go to The Smouldering Perch (39.48). Speak with the NPC, Ingot, and complete the short quest-chain he offers you. The Worldbreaker quest-chain will start with Ingot's quests: Punching Up And A Cultist's Misgivings. After completing these quests, you’ll find a vendor inside a cave at (34.45). He will have Flameslinger Rum available to purchase.

Once you’ve collected all these weird and wonderful juices, pop back to Vazillia and complete the quest! You’ll be awarded your adorable Spyragos pet to love and treasure forever.

Ohn’ahran Plains Battle Pets

Wide open space and plenty of good doggos. There’s an array of little beasties for you to capture across the hunting grounds of the Maruuk Centaur.

Trunkalumpf	Beast	Prominently found south-west of Cloverwood Hollow and around Timberstep Outpost.	The Azure Span.
Black Slyvern Pup	Flying	North-east of Maruukai, around Emberwatch.
Dusky Timbertooth	Beast	71.73. This companion is a tricky one to get. The pet can be found stuck under a pile of sticks. You’ll have to wait for the beaver mobs to finish making their dam before the pet will be accessible. This can take hours, so it will likely require some patience! Once the sticks are clickable, you can begin clicking them until the pet becomes free.
Grassland Stomper	Beast	Can be spotted around Thunderspine Ridge.	Thaldraszus and The Waking Shores.
Ironbeak Duck	Flying	Can be found by the water throughout the zone.	Scattered around The Waking Shores.
Woodbiter Piculet	Flying	Can be spotted from Nelthazan Ruins south to Cloverwood Hollow.	The Azure Span.
The Quackcestor	Undead	Go to 85.20 at the Timberstep Outpost, and you’ll find a tent. Inside, on a crate, there’s a pile of purple stones called Essence of Awakening. Click this and you’ll receive a buff. Go to 42.46, The Primordial Vale, and you’ll now be able to see The Quackcestors.

Ohn’ahran Plains Vendor Battle Pets

Hoofhelper

Can be bought from Quartermaster Huseng at 60.37 for 20 x Resilient Leather, 5 x Tallstrider Sinew, and 150 x Dragon Isles Supplies. You’ll need to be Renown Level 8 with the Maruuk Centaur and have completed the quest Hatching Plans.

Ohn’ahran Plains Quest Battle Pets

Pilot

Locate Gracus at the Shady Sanctuary and complete the quests he gives you. There will be three to complete and they’re super easy. Simply collect some bugs, feed some ducklings, and attack a huge swog until it throws up! You’ll receive your pet Pilot once you complete the quest But… I Am the Hero of Ducks.

Ohn’ahran Plains Treasure Battle Pets

Viridescent Duck

Location: Find Ludo the dog around 61.42 and take the map from his mouth. Use the item to mark the treasure on your map. At 70.35, you’ll find a dirt mound. Click it to receive a Slightly Chewed Duck Egg. In 3 days, your Viridescent Duck will hatch!

The perfect zone for fans of the Grizzly Hills. With relaxing music and ambience and stunning scenes, hunting pets in this area is destined to be a chilled experience. And the heaps of snow makes it pretty chilled too.

Chalkshell Turtle	Aquatic	Speak to Lani at 10.47, she is sitting on a rock by the water. She will give you Turtle Bait. Then, click the additional action button and the pet will appear for you to battle.
Grizzlefur Cub	Beast	32.35 is a known location for this rare pet. We recommend checking out the location in Thaldraszus for a higher chance of capturing them.	Thaldraszus
Igneoid	Elemental	This pet can be difficult to find in The Azure Span. We recommend looking in Thaldraszus along Steelcliff Passage (50.51).	The Waking Shores and Thaldraszus.

Pale Baby Vorquin	Beast	Go to 45.38 and you’ll find a book on the floor inside the pavilion at Camp Antonidas. Click it to receive the buff Sight of Elusive Vorquin. Now, you’ll be able to see the pets and capture them.
Pricklefury Hare	Critter	Although they can be captured in all zones, they’re rarely seen across The Azure Span. They are far more common across The Waking Shores and Thaldraszus.	All zones.
Scruffy Ottuk	Aquatic	Mostly found near water, try 50.54. More prominently seen in The Waking Shores.	The Waking Shores and Ohn’ahran Plains.

Blackfeather Nester

At 26.46, inside the fallen tree trunk at Traitor’s Rest, you'll find Tree Sap. Further up the tree is a stick. Click this and you'll be able to interact with the Pepper Hammer close by. Then, you'll receive your Blackfeather Nester.

Azure Span Quest Battle Pets

Yipper

Location: Go to Three-Falls Lookout (19.23) and pick up the quest The Great Shokhari from Zon’Wogi. Kill the Great Slyvern and the quest giver will reward you with the Yipper pet.

Shiverweb Broodling

You'll be rewarded with a Shiverweb Egg for completing the quest Kill the Queen. Pick up the quest from Grungir Ironspout at 49.64. The Shiverweb Queen is found at 47.65.

Azure Span Secret Battle Pets

Snowclaw Cub

For this pet, you’ll need to complete the quest A Dryadic Remedy from Thalendra in The Emerald Enclave in Valdrakken. You’ll receive a title, Honourary Dryad, for 24 hours. Make sure you have 1 x Honey Snack and 3 x Hornswog Hunk. Then, go to 67.18 in The Azure Span, and you’ll find a Primal Bear Cub. Interact with it, and it will eat the snacks and give you the Snowclaw Cub pet.

There aren't many zones as breathtaking as this. Aside from spectacular views and endless ledges to dive off of for dragonriding, this zone is rife with pets.

Thaldraszus Wild Battle Pets

Polliswog	Aquatic	There are two hotspots within Thaldraszus (37.67 and 60.30) to find these golden balls of greatness. The Cascades (34.69) are rife with swogs, so it’s definitely your best bet.
Pricklefury Hare	Critter	Most common within Steelcliff Passage.	All zones.
Razortooth Bear Cub	Beast	Have been spotted amongst Grizzlefur Cubs within the Tyrhold Reservoir.

Blue Dasher	Flying	Can be found littered around the south-west of Thaldraszus between 44.84 to 34.64.
Crimsonspine	Magic	Spotted around Gelikyr Post (50.66) near Tyrhold Reservoir, but are very rare so you may be camping a while!	The Azure Span.
Grassland Stomper	Beast	Many have been located within Steelcliff Passage.	Ohn'ahran Plains.
Grizzlefur Cub	Beast	Can be found around Tyrhold Reservoir, 47.56.	The Azure Span.
Kindlet	Elemental	Can be found amongst the other elementals beneath Serene Dreams Spa at 42.46.	All zones.

Thaldraszus Quest Battle Pets

Chestnut	Critter	Go to 49.62 in Tyrhold Reservoir and click on an acorn. You’ll receive the Acorn buff which allows you to interact with the Acorn Harvester. You can find this creature sitting on a rock beside the tree. It’s a little hard to see as it blends in with the rock. Once you interact with it, it will give you the battle pet.
Living Mud Mask	Magic	This battle pet is part of a quest line. Start by heading over to the Serene Dreams Spa and kill Mudgatu (40.45). You’ll receive the drop Derelict Sunglasses which gives the Derelict Fashion quest. Hand this in to Zeldis (39.48). Then, speak to Zeldis and ask for a better reward. He’ll demand to be taken to the VIP area of the spa and is thrown over to the floating island. When he lands, he will appear dead, talk to him and the mud mask will appear. Follow it to the branch behind Barozdormu (38.46). The mud mask will give you a final quest, hand it in to Zeldis, and you’ll receive the pet.
Lord Basilton	Magic	To receive Lord Basilton, you’ll need to complete a quest chain. Start by speaking with Tender Xina at 77.67 in The Emerald Enclave. She’ll start the quest line by offering you Garden Variety. Complete this quest chain and you’ll be rewarded Lord Basilton when you complete the final quest, Carry On, Basilton.
Mister Toots	Beast	This adorable battle pet is a reward from completing the quest So How Did It Go? This is the final quest in a chain of pet battle-related tasks. To begin, you’ll need to speak with Jyhannah. She’s found at 10.58 inside Little Scales Daycare. It should be illegal for so much cuteness to exist in one place, by the way. She’ll start the quest chain by offering the quest Oh Where, Oh where Could He be? Complete the quest chain and you’ll be rewarded with both Mister Toots and Lubbins!
Lubbins	Dragonkin	Proto-drakes may be an adversary for much of this expansion, but Lubbins is certainly a friend. This battle pet is a reward from completing the quest Oh Where, Oh Where Could He Be? This is the first quest in a chain of pet battle-related quests, where you can receive another pet called Mister Toots. To begin, you’ll need to speak with Jyhannah. She’s found at 10.58 inside Little Scales Daycare. Find Injured Lubbins beneath the floating daycare and complete the quest, then he is yours forever. If you complete the whole quest chain, you’ll also receive Mister Toots as the final reward!
Cubbly	Beast	To adopt Cubbly, you'll need to find the Strange Bear Cub located inside a cave at Eon’s Fringe (52.83). You'll need either Dragon Isles Mining or Expedition Explosives to clear the cave entrance. Simply interact with the cub once you’re inside and you’ll receive your pet.

Thaldraszus Vendor Battle Pets

Bronze Racing Enthusiast	Dragonkin	This excited little bronze whelp is a reward for completing all dragonriding races at silver. Who wouldn't want a fan cheering them on during a dragonriding race?
Mister Muskoxeles	Beast	This cutie was a reward from the achievement Good Things Come in Small Packages. You needed 2000 unique pets to receive Mister Muskoxeles. Shortly after the expansion launch, the pet was removed from the game. He may yet be added back.
Violet Violence	Beast	Reward from the achievement What Can I Say? They Love Me for collecting 1600 unique pets.
Crystalline Mini-Monster	Magic	This magic battle pet is a milestone reward for pet tamers that have collected 1200 unique pets. The achievement is Many More Mini Minions.
Secretive Frogduck	Aquatic	Another milestone reward, this pet is awarded to tamers that have 1400 unique pets! The achievement is Proven Pet Parent. Perfect for those players that love their fluffy, slimy, and sometimes terrifying babies.
Lady Feathersworn	Magic	Reward for achievement Family Battler of the Dragon Isles. Involves completing 10 achievements where you defeat elite pets and trainers in the dragon isles with a full team of level 25 pets.

Profession Battle Pets

Alvin the Anvil	Mechanical	This pet can be crafted by blacksmiths (crafting level 50+), but they’ll need to collect Plans: Alvin the Anvil. This item drops from Rohzor Forgesmash, found wandering around the Obsidian Citadel (30.60) in The Waking Shores. It has a super low drop chance though, so you can buy the plans from the auction house to save time. P.S. This pet also works as a functional anvil - awesome!
Blaze Spirit	Elemental	You’ll need an Empty Soul Cage (crafted by jewelcrafters) and a Zapthrottle Soul Inhaler (crafted by engineers). Use these on: Fire Elementals (The Azure Span, 79.38). These elementals must die as you cast Zapthrottle Soul Inhaler. You’ll receive an Encaged Fiery Soul, it’ll turn docile after around 15 minutes. Then, this docile soul can contain the elemental spirit pet, if it doesn’t, you may receive crafting reagents.
Dust Spirit	Elemental	You’ll need an Empty Soul Cage (crafted by jewelcrafters) and a Zapthrottle Soul Inhaler (crafted by engineers). Use these on: Earthshatter Elementals (The Waking Shores, 49.32) These elementals must die as you cast Zapthrottle Soul Inhaler. You’ll receive an Encaged Earthen Soul, it’ll turn docile after around 15 minutes. Then, this docile soul can contain the elemental spirit pet, if it doesn’t, you may receive crafting reagents.
Gale Spirit	Elemental	You’ll need an Empty Soul Cage (crafted by jewelcrafters) and a Zapthrottle Soul Inhaler (crafted by engineers). Use these on: Stormbound Colossus (Ohn’ahran Plains, 24.37) These elementals must die as you cast Zapthrottle Soul Inhaler. You’ll receive an Encaged Airy Soul, it’ll turn docile after around 15 minutes. Then, this docile soul can contain the elemental spirit pet, if it doesn’t, you may receive crafting reagents.
Tide Spirit	Aquatic	You’ll need an Empty Soul Cage (crafted by jewelcrafters) and a Zapthrottle Soul Inhaler (crafted by engineers). Use these on: Force of the Spring (Ohn’ahran Plains, 56.78) These elementals must die as you cast Zapthrottle Soul Inhaler. You’ll receive an Encaged Frosty Soul, it’ll turn docile after around 15 minutes. Then, this docile soul can contain the elemental spirit pet, if it doesn’t, you may receive crafting reagents.
Quack-E	Aquatic	Requires Schematic Quack-E Plans for Engineering.
Sophic Amalgamation	Elemental	Unlocked as you progress through the Insight of the Blue specialisation tree in Engineering.

Jeweled Whelplings

Five whelpling pets flying around together.

To craft the whelpling pets, you’ll need to be a jewelcrafter.

Firstly, one character on your account must reach Renown Level 21 with the Dragonscale Expedition. This allows you to unlock Jeweled Whelpling Treasure Maps account-wide.

Go to the NPC, Boss Magor (47.82, The Waking Shores) and complete the quest for the Onyx Gem Cluster Map. You’ll then be able to see the location of the cluster marked on your map, inside a cave at (30.47, The Waking Shores). Looting the cluster rewards you with Glimmering Neltharite Cluster. These can be purchased from him on alts if required as the quest can only be completed once per account. They cost 3 x Neltharite and 100 x Dragon Isles Supplies.

For the other whelplings, you’ll need to loot Disturbed Dirt, Expedition Scout’s Pack, and Magic-Bound Chests. In these you can find the other maps for gem cluster locations for the required reagents. The drop rates are likely low, so this could take some time.

Primal Stormling

This little whirlwind was available during the Dragonflight pre-patch event. It could be earned from completing a quest, or in exchange for Primeval Essences. Currently, they are no longer obtainable, but they may yet become tradable as they can be caged!
