Blizzard Entertainment's World of Warcraft is one of the longest-running MMORPGs, already receiving nine expansions since its start in 2004. Each new installment brings a plethora of intriguing new characters and formidable bosses onto Azeroth's surface. And some of those characters you encounter throughout your quests may sound more familiar than you think.

The Warcraft universe has seen its fair share of talented voice actors and accomplished actors in film and television. Countless famous faces from other fan-favorite series have taken on anything from minor NPCs to more important narrative roles. These are but a few of the recognizable ones you'll hear in WoW.

12 Troy Baker

Split image collage featuring Troy Baker's character Gul'dan in World of Warcraft, the antagonist Higgs Monaghan in Death Stranding, and Joel Miller in The Last of Us Part 1.

With the seemingly infinite stellar performances Troy Baker has under his belt, it's not a shock you can catch him in World of Warcraft. Here he portrays the fire mage Magister Krelas and the villainous warlock orc Gul'dan, introduced in the Warlords of Draenor and Legion expansions.

In the DC universe, not only has he done the voice of Joker in various Batman-related works, but he was also the titular caped crusader in Telltale's Batman games. Other notable villain roles are Higgs Monaghan in Death Stranding and Far Cry 4's Pagan Min. But he's also played plenty of memorable heroic protagonists, like Joel Miller in The Last of Us, Talion in the Middle-earth series, and Nathan Drake's older brother Sam in Uncharted 4.

11 Laura Bailey

A collage of Laura Bailey's character Jaina Proudmoore inking a passage in a notebook, Abby in The Last of Us Part 2, and Mary Jane in Marvel's Spider-Man.

A fellow Naughty Dog alum in the Warcraft universe is Laura Bailey, who plays the well-established Jaina Proudmoore through the various expansions. Apart from voicing the most infamous mage Azeroth has to offer, she also appears as more minor characters, such as Argent Dawnbringer and Sif. But her voice extends far beyond Blizzard.

Laura Bailey has been involved in a variety of PlayStation collaborations. Some of her most outstanding include Abby in The Last of Us Part 2, Nadine Ross in the final Uncharted games, and Mary Jane Watson in Insomniac's Spider-Man. And let's not leave out Fiona in Telltale's Tales from the Borderlands, along with its sequel.

10 Nolan North

A split image collage of a character card of Kairoz in Warcraft, Nolan North's Nathan Drake in a tuxedo in Uncharted 4, and Deadpool making a heart-shape with his hands in Midnight Suns.

Closing out the Naughty Dog family in World of Warcraft is the talent behind Nathan Drake himself, Nolan North. North has a significant role in the Mists of Pandaria and Warlords of Draenor expansions as the traitorous bronze dragon Kairozdormu.

But Uncharted's Nathan Drake isn't the only iconic video game character Nolan North voices. If you're a fan of the Assassin's Creed series, you may know him as lead protagonist Desmond Miles. And he's the voice actor for Deadpool in Marvel games, which includes the 2013 title and the Midnight Suns DLC.

9 April Stewart

Split images of April Stewart as Helya in World of Warcraft, Shelly Marsh in South Park, and Cartman's mom in South Park.

The unique voice behind some of your favorite South Park characters adds quite a few contributions to the World of Warcraft universe across its expansions. April Stewart voices five characters, with the most appearances as High Chieftan Mayla Highmountain and Helya, ruler of the underworld.

In all forms of South Park media, she most notably provides the voices for Stan and Cartman's mothers, Stan's sister Shelly, Wendy Testaburger, and Mayor McDaniels. And Helya has much of that Shelley Marsh demeanor in her. Stewart also played Empress Jessamine Kaldwin in the Dishonored series and Christie in select Dead or Alive games.

8 Martin Sheen

Three split images of Martin Sheen's WoW character Nozdormu, Sheen playing President Josiah Bartlett in The West Wing, and the Illusive Man in Mass Effect.

Martin Sheen is in World of Warcraft as the voice of Nozdormu and Murozond, the villainous dragon form of Nozdormu in a future timeline. He plays the keeper of time and leads a legion of dragons with both characters, and that's certainly unlike any of the other roles you may know him for.

Martin Sheen portrayed President Josiah Bartlet in all seven seasons of Aaron Sorkin's The West Wing. He also starred in Apocalypse Now, Gettysburg, The Departed, and The Amazing Spider-Man. Another voice credit in gaming for Sheen is the Illusive Man from the Mass Effect series.

7 Clancy Brown

A split image collage of Clancy Brown's Scourgelord Tyrannus riding his frost wyrm Rhymefang, Detective Hank Anderson in Detroit: Become Human, and Mr. Krabs admiring a whole lot of cash in SpongeBob.

The voice of the beloved Mr. Krabs from the SpongeBob SquarePants series can also be encountered in World of Warcraft, albeit as a less personable character. Clancy Brown provides the voice for the death knight Scourgelord Tyrannus, who has a frost wyrm mount named Rimefang.

Clancy voiced Connor's partner, Hank Anderson, in Detroit: Become Human, along with Lex Luthor in several DC animated projects like the Lego Batman games and Blackhand in the 2016 Warcraft movie. Some notable film and TV roles include Captain Hadley in The Shawshank Redemption, Sargeant Zim in Starship Troopers, and Kurt Caldwell in Dexter: New Blood.

6 John Bradley

A split image collage of a close-up of John Bradley's Marten Webb character in Warcraft, Samwell Tarly in Game of Thrones, as well as KC in Moonfall.

John Bradley isn't the only Game of Thrones alumni to have a character featured in World of Warcraft, but he does bring a lot of the same tone and vocal delivery. John Bradley is, of course, most well-known for playing Jon Snow's friend and fellow member of the Night's Watch Samwell Tarly.

He voices a human apprentice named Marten Webb, training to become an alchemist. It even sounds like a callback to his training as a maester in the Citadel. Bradley also appeared in the sci-fi disaster film Moonfall and as Giovanni de Medici in the Tom Fontana Borgia TV show.

5 Indira Varma

Split image collage of Indira Varma as Katherine Proudmoore in World of Warcraft, her as Ellaria Sand in Game of Thrones, and Moshae Sjefa in Mass Effect: Andromeda.

Indira Varma is yet another Game of Thrones star cast in World of Warcraft as the more prominent Katherine Proudmoore, mother of Jaina Proudmoore and ruler of House Proudmoore. In Game of Thrones, she portrays Ellaria Sand, the lover of Pedro Pascal's Prince Oberyn Martell, who eventually succeeds Dorne through treacherous means.

Aside from Game of Thrones, you may also know her from the first season of BBC's Luther, where she played John Luther's ex-wife, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and prison warden Safiya Masry in ABC's For Life. World of Warcraft also isn't her first video game. Indira voiced Vivienne in Dragon Age: Inquisition and Angaran scientist Moshae Sjefa and Outcast leader Sloane Kelly in Mass Effect: Andromeda.

4 Tony Amendola

Split image collage of Tony Amendola's Warcraft character Archmage Khadgar, Eno Cordova speaking to Cal Kestis, and Marco/Geppetto in the woods in Once Upon a Time.

When Jedi Master Eno Cordova isn't busy guiding Cal Kestis toward the location of the holocron in Jedi: Fallen Order, he appears in multiple World of Warcraft installments as Archmage Khadgar and the towering Odyn. Tony Amendola is the iconic actor doing the voice for these characters.

Some other noteworthy roles of his are The Elder in Netflix's Castlevania, Father Perez in Annabelle, Don Luiz in The Mask of Zorro, Geppetto in Once Upon a Time, and Bra'tac in Stargate SG-1. And you might recall him as Dr. Yousef Salim from Call of Duty: Black Ops 3's campaign.

3 Christopher Judge

A split image collage of Christopher Judge as Gorak Tul in World of Warcraft, Teal'c in Stargate SG-1, and the menacing Kratos in God of War Ragnarok.

Tony Amendola's fellow Stargate SG-1 cast member, Christopher Judge, can likewise be found among the characters in World of Warcraft. On Stargate, Judge plays the lead role of Teal'c from the planet Chulak, whose mentor was Amendola's character Bra'tac.

That deep, booming voice of his playing the characters Gorak Tul, Akunda, and Sunwalker Ordel in the Battle for Azeroth expansion will be instantly recognizable, as Christopher Judge provides the voice of Kratos in the Norse saga of God of War.

2 Debra Wilson

Collage of Debra Wilson as Draka in World of Warcraft, Cere Junda in Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, and Grace Walker in Wolfenstein 2.

Debra Wilson is a veteran voice actress in gaming and another connection to Tony Amendola, for she was Eno Cordova's Jedi apprentice and Cal's companion, Cere Junda, in Fallen Order. Her voice is attached to many World of Warcraft expansions but none as distinct as the character Draka in Shadowlands.

A few of her most memorable video game credits include Bellette Krau in Forspoken, Grace Walker in Wolfenstein 2 and Youngblood, Amanda Waller in Telltale's Batman: The Enemy Within, and General Lyons in 2019's Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. Debra also specializes in capturing creature voice work in scores of movies and horror games.

1 Jennifer Hale

Four-image collage of Jennifer Hale battling players as Illysana Ravencrest in Warcraft, Commander Shepard in Mass Effect, Rivet from Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart, and Lilith from Marvel's Midnight Suns.

Last but not least is the remarkable Jennifer Hale. Collectively, Hale lends her voice to eight different characters between the Warlords of Draenor, Legion, Battle for Azeroth, and Dragonflight expansions. Among those are Lyessa Bloomwatcher, Illysanna Ravencrest, and Merithra of the Dream.

As to the other characters she's voiced in games and animation, there are too many to mention here. But you'll know her more famously as the female Commander Shepard in the Mass Effect trilogy, Bayonetta in Bayonetta 3, Lilith in Midnight Suns, Rivet in Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart, and Lyris Titanborn in Elder Scrolls.
