The classic 2006 World of Warcraft event The Gates of Ahn'Qiraj is making a comeback for an event scheduled in July. Blizzard Entertainment announced in a forum post that the upcoming event will be returning in all its remastered glory.

Blizzard's community manager took to the forums yesterday to reveal some new content the company had been working on. The post detailed that version 1.13.5 would become live in July, triggering the release of the Ahn'Qiraj content. Blizzard's patch will unlock a weekly quest to craft the Scepter of Shifting Sands on July 28th for all realms within the region.

Blizzard also advised players that they would be able to collect the resources needed to aid the Ahn'Qiraj war plight. Once both tasks have been completed on any realm, Blizzard confirmed that players would then be able open the gates of Ahn'Qiraj. Fans were divided between welcoming back a favorite from the MMORPG's history and denouncing its relevance in the modern WoW's community. Veterans of Warcraft were keen to show their enthusiasm for the remastered event; a giddiness that lingered from the past event. Other responses included praise for the additional raid content and extra loot up for grabs.

Blizzard Gates of Ahn'Qiraj Forum Announcement

The popular worldwide event first ran back in 2006 featured the opening of the raid instances the Ruins of Ahn'Qiraj and the Temple of Ahn'Qiraj. The event united Alliance and Horde players as they gathered supplies in preparation for a ten-hour long war at the Scarab Wall. Opening the gates of Ahn'Qiraj was no easy task that required the efforts of hundreds of players from all world races. In true Indiana Jones style, players had to perform in trials to rebuild the Scepter of the Shifting Sands, a long-lost artifact, that would ultimately open the walls.

This monumental event within the MMORPG brought players from opposing sides together in an heroic attempt to win the Ahn'Qiraj war. Many organizations managed their strategies on realm forums and websites designed for this sole purpose. Not only was the event a bonding experience for passionate players, but its various rewards were bountiful for their efforts.

The remastered Gates of Ahn'Qiraj has succeeded in fanning the flames of old magic from Warcraft's younger days. Whether it takes the full ten-hours like before, most players are ready for their taste of a classic reunion on the battlefield, with any Leeroy Jenkins persona's being left at the outskirts.
