The developers over at Saber Interactive aren't new to the world of Switch ports. After previously working on the Nintendo Switch version of The Witcher 3, the team has turned their attention to another beast of a game — World War Z. And according to a recent statement from CEO Matt Karch, it sounds like the task of translating those hordes of zombies to a less powerful system is even more difficult than they imagined.

More specifically, Karch said that "Getting this to run on the Switch is the hardest thing that we have had to do." Considering the team was able to get the massive world of The Witcher 3 to run without any hiccups, that's a pretty incredible statement. In fact, the team went the extra mile while working with World War Z on the Switch by porting over the Swarm engine in an attempt to improve framerates.

The Witcher 3 was a technical landmark for the Nintendo Switch, and hopes are high that World War Z will push the envelope even further. Saber Interactive was able to achieve a stable framerate and quality visuals with The Witcher 3 port and didn't have to cut out any of the original material. If anyone can port World War Z to the Switch, it's them.

Originally released on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One last April, the hit zombie game is yet to receive a release date for the Switch. World War Z is also receiving a Game of the Year edition which is expected to hit stores on May 5.
