In World War Z, composure is everything, as even the slightest mistake can alter the scales of your fate. It'll be a challenging ride fighting through those hordes of zombies while trying to keep team morale up. Your weapon load-outs, class, and where you place your focus can make or break your chances of completing a level. Unfortunately, World War Z drops you straight into the game without much explanation for the best way to play the game.

While it's not dissimilar to other zombie shooters of its kind, there are a few things you'll want to know before hitting that play button.

6 Stealth Where You Can

Seriously, utilizing stealth as much as possible can will make the game so much easier. If you can get your hands on a pistol with a silencer and make sure to keep your hand steady when aiming, taking out those enemies without alerting them will be extremely easy. Make sure not to rush around everywhere. Running can sometimes be okay (especially when running away from already alerted enemies), but running everywhere is a sure-fire way to put yourself in unnecessary danger.

With most of the game focused on online play, it may not seem like sneaking is what you should be doing; however, it's imperative, particularly when in tight spaces or when heading into an optional area.

5 Take Your Time

Take your time with everything, explore as much as you can, and always come prepared. Around the maps, there are lots of goodies to be found, like more powerful weapons, ammo refills, and extra items like the barbed wire that will aid in staving off the hordes that come your way.

Be sure to not run into every situation, as many enemies can run up behind you, giving you one heck of a scare. Add to that the fact that some zombies that are sprawled across the floor and seemingly dead will lunge at you for one final fright.

4 Focus On Firing Speed Rather Than Fire Power

Firepower may seem like the way to go, and if you want to focus on a solid damage build, go for it. But if you want to make the game a little easier for yourself, upgrading the speed of your weapon is the preferable option. Speed helps with everything, whether it's for fast shooting as the crowd of enemies approaches you or for quick shots when trying to take out baddies silently.

You can have all the firepower in the world, but it will never be as valuable as speed, which will help with precise aiming and quickly taking out enemies.

3 AI Is Terrible At Helping

Online gaming isn't for everyone, and that's okay! Nobody should be forced into playing something in a particular way if it makes them uncomfortable. World War Z does give you the option to play through the game offline, but if you're hoping to tackle the more challenging difficulties this way, you might want to think again, or at least get really good at the game.

To put it plainly, the AI in World War Z is almost useless. It's scarce that the AI characters heal you with a medkit or come to aid you when an enemy has you pinned down. The AI does damage to enemies and can help in that way, but they'd instead let you figure it out yourself in practically every other aspect.

2 Melee Will Save Your Life

Many of the fights in World War Z can make the enemies feel like bullet sponges with how long it takes them to go down. And with how fast they are, it can sometimes be tricky to shoot them with your weapons. Melee weapons may seem like a last resort and something you only use once or twice. Mostly in games, firepower is much more effective than some slashing, but in World War Z, melee attacks are advantageous.

There's no need for precision when using a melee weapon, so there's the saved time of messing about with your gun sights to aim at your chosen target, and using things like the machete will attack multiple enemies when the zombies are swarming in droves.

1 Start The Game On The Easiest Difficulty

World War Z. Difficulty screen with five different difficulties. These are, easy, normal, hard, insane and extreme.

World War Z automatically sets you on the 'easy difficulty,' whereas most other games put you on normal difficulty. You might automatically change the difficulty to a higher one as surely easy mode is too simple, but the game is surprisingly challenging. A zombie pinning you down, for example, is an infuriating occurrence that'll happen quite a lot, and there's no way to stop this without a team member getting them off you.

For the first few stages, it's wise to play the game on the easiest mode, and once you've gotten the hang of the controls and a build you like playing with, up the difficulty how you see fit. This way, it'll make it a little easier for you to learn the ropes of World War Z.
