There's no shortage of co-op zombie killing games on the market, and World War Z was... well, it sure was one of them.

So, World War Z didn't knock our socks off, or really anyone's socks off. However, the game did draw in a decent amount of players with the promise of reliving the glory days of Left 4 Dead. But with competitors coming in the form of Zombie Island 4Project Resistance, and Back 4 Blood, World War Z apparently felt the need to gain a bit more attention with their newest update.

So they made it all about burning stuff to the ground.

Yes, the time-honored gaming tradition of setting everything on fire and watching it crumble into ash has become the main calling card of the update. So what new tools and environments does it include to bring out the pyromaniac in all of us?

A flamethrower.

Flamethrowers are cool and all, and common wisdom dictates that the addition of them does merit attention, but that's the only fire-related thing in the entire update, so the naming seems a bit misplaced. The update even includes a new co-op mission that takes place on a boat in the water—water being notable not only for not being fire, but also for kind of hindering people's fantasies of reducing everything to cinders.

The update also includes a second co-op mission called "Resurrection," which is notable for being the opposite of killing things. Perhaps calling the update "Resurrect It With Water" didn't have the same ring to it.

Ignoring the thematic nit-picks, the new levels will involve trying to escape after being stranded on New York’s Hudson River. Players will make their way deep into the tunnels below Moscow, all in a desperate bid to survive the massive hordes of zombies that plague players at every turn.

The update also includes the option to purchase the World War Z Season Pass, which will give players access to all previously-released DLC and the Season 2 DLC to be released in the future.
