The roadmap for zombie co-op shooter World War Z has been unveiled on Twitter, alongside some figures for the game's sales so far. The outline contains information about what’s next for the title, including new missions, characters, weapons, and even a new mode.
World War Z is said to be entering what has been referred to as Season One, a series of updates that will roll out between May and July. The roadmap has been detailed on the World War Z forums, giving players a small teaser of what’s to come.
Raibi, the game’s community manager, says that the team is looking to deliver “new gameplay, features, and improvements to the game month to month.” The breakdown of Season One content is as follows:
May will bring a brand-new mission that will be set in Tokyo. There will also be a new zombie that spits a deadly virus and can be resurrected if it isn't properly neutralized.
June will see a new six-skull difficulty rating that will offer players a unique reward. Players can also expect bonus cosmetics and more.
Finally, in July, players can expect to discover a new weekly challenge mode, as well as more cosmetics and other goodies.
While some of these details are vague right now, we should expect more information as each month’s content gets closer to release.
The posts also state that other major free updates will include a wave-based survival mode, private lobbies, field of view and level details sliders for PC, and the ability to switch classes during PvPvZ matches. However, there is currently no indication of when these features will be introduced.
The addition of new, free features is sure to help keep up players' spirits up, as most have had positive reactions to the game. While critical reviews are mixed so far, user reviews on Metacritic are mostly positive.
Over 1 million units were sold in the first week and Saber Interactive’s CEO Matthew Karch has expressed delight over the game’s reception, crediting the Epic Games Store for its success on PC.
World War Z is now available on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
