Another year, another WWE game. WWE 2K20 has been released to mostly negative reviews, with people complaining about its number of bugs and below-par graphics.

While the fan and critic response might make you believe that there is nothing redeemable about the game and that its the worst thing in existence, that's not strictly true. Despite the negatives, the game also has a bunch of things going for it from a few strong game modes to some compelling new mechanics.

This list doesn't intend to cover up the problems that plague the game but rather point out that there is still a lot of awesome stuff to do in the game, with ten of them being featured here.

10 Wrestle In Either The New Or The Original Hell In A Cell

WWE fans will know that last year the company debuted a new red Hell In A Cell structure to a mixed response.

In 2K20, the red cell makes its first appearance in the games, yet if you were one of the people who preferred the old silver color, then you're in luck as it's still possible to use that cell in the new game. Weirdly though, it's not just an option you can choose, instead you have to play in an older arena to get the silver version, and pick one of the current arenas if you want the red one.

9 Have Mixed Tag Matches

Mixed tag matches are back!!! It has been a long time since this match type has been included in a WWE game. The match's return was only a matter of time with WWE featuring multiple high profile mix tags in recent years, such as Ronda Rousey's debut teaming with Kurt Angle against Triple H and Stephanie McMahon.

The match type has not just been cut and pasted back in either, as it is a lot better than it used to be. With the main highlight of them being the tag team moves made specifically for the match, where partners do moves in stereo to their opponents, including double spears and double superkicks.

8 Experience A Musical Performance From Elias

On WWE programming Elias sings more often than he wrestles. That isn't an easy thing to translate to a wrestling game, however 2K has managed it this year as Elias gives a musical performance to the crowd instead of having a usual entrance.

The song is brilliant as he cuts down the whole crowd while managing to remain generic enough so it works in every place you have a show. An added bonus is that the virtual Elias can finish the full song without getting interrupted, unlike his real-life counterpart.

7 Choose What Weapons Are Under The Ring

One of the best new features in 2k20 is the ability to choose what weapons are under the ring in almost all match types. No longer do you only have the choice of either a basic chair, sledgehammer, kendo stick, or a bat in non-gimmick matches.

Going into custom match rules allows you to put everything from a prosthetic arm to a lightsaber beneath the mat. Additionally, the weapon wheel that has always been exclusive to Extreme Rules is now available in most other match types, allowing you to pick exactly what you want from under the ring.

6 Use Tables In Hell In A Cell

2K, at last, have answered Hell In A Cell players' prayers by adding tables into the match. They're commonly used in modern-day Cell matches, so it has never been clear why they were never an option in the virtual version of the match type.

It's not just the tables either as the inclusion of the weapon wheel mentioned in the last entry means you can now use all sorts of weaponry inside the structure. This addition makes Cell matches much more dynamic, meaning there's no need to climb on top of the cell every time, although you probably still will.

5 Play As A Woman In MyCareer

The greatest thing about MyCareer this year is the inclusion of a female protagonist. Not since Mickie James' Road To Wrestlemania in Smackdown vs. Raw 2011 has a WWE game had a story mode that revolves around a female superstar.

It's not just a celebration of representation either, as switching between two different wrestlers throughout the story adds more variety to matches, as both characters can be made to have completely different styles. Also, people who like to put themselves in the story have more chance of doing it with both masculine and feminine features to work with.

4 Alter PPV Length In Universe Mode

This seems like a little thing, yet universe mode players will appreciate it. Ever since universe mode was introduced, you've only been able to have seven matches on any given PPV, meaning shows like Backlash and Fastlane would be the same length as huge events like Wrestlemania.

Finally though, 2K has allowed you to have between 6-14 matches on PPVs. So you can recreate the marathon-like feel of modern-day Wrestlemanias, or even take away a match so you can have an even number of Raw and Smackdown matches on each big event. This addition gives a nice bit of extra freedom to tailor your universe to how you want it.

3 Use Horror-Themed Versions Of WWE Superstars

The strange alternate versions of WWE superstars is one of the most interesting aspects of the game's pre-order Bump in the Night DLC. There's a Frankenstein version of Braun Strowman, a swamp monster variant of Bray Wyatt (like he needed to be creepier), and a literal Demon King Finn Balor, just to name a few.

The DLC makes great use of these horror movie wrestlers by containing towers and a 2K Showcase where they're heavily featured. Fans who want a simulation like wrestling game won't appreciate these additions, however those who long for a more arcade-style game will be grateful for the added craziness.

2 Face Some Of Roman Reign's Best Opponents

WWE 2K19's towers mode returns, but now with one focused on Roman Reigns. The tower allows players to face the toughest opponents of his career, with the man himself introducing each match.

It differs from the showcase mode as it's not a re-creation of his matches, instead it's as if they're competing in a rematch from the original bout. For instance, when Reigns and Seth Rollins face Team Hell No, the commentary talks about how the match is different from when it originally took place as now Roman has to contend with the New Daniel Bryan. It's a more gameplay focused mode than 2K showcase and challenges you to beat the same people that the Big Dog did.

1 Experience The Four Horsewomen's Rise In WWE

Becky Lynch, Sasha Banks, Bayley, and Charlotte Flair have been the centerpiece of the rise of the women's division in WWE. So it's amazing to be able to playthrough their journey's in the 2K showcase mode.

The showcase mode has been one of the highlights of 2K's time as the publisher of WWE games, and that's no different this year. Beautifully crafted interviews and video packages bookmark each match and re-creating those classic matches is a lot of fun. Additionally, it enables you to unlock previous versions of the Four Horsewomen, so if you're one of the few people who prefer steampunk Becky, then you don't have to use 'The Man' version.
