Professional wrestling, more specifically WWE, is known for providing viewers with a plethora of characters ranging from the ultimate cool guys to insane personalities. These characters make up for some surprising storylines within the world of WWE. While the real-life feuds are weird enough as it is, some of the storylines in the video games are even more ridiculous and far-fetched.

The goal in WWE games is usually to win the world title, whether that be as a created character or one of the wrestlers from the roster. However, there are some interesting, to say the least, side stories players can find themselves in. As the games are not held to the rules of reality that wrestling is, there are some totally weird situations in WWE games.

10 Getting Fired – Smackdown Shut Your Mouth

Brock Lesnar (left) fights Triple H (right) and Kurt Angle in Smackdown: Shut Your Mouth

One thing that is oddly absent from WWE games is the ability to actually get fired. Smackdown Shut Your Mouth on the PS2, however, introduced this in a storyline.

Should the player challenge for the Undisputed Championship, most likely held by the Undertaker since he is the default champion, the match can be set so the loser is fired. Should they actually lose the contest, they will be fired. A few in-game months will pass before the player's selected character is seen in a bar drinking their sorrows away before eventually returning.

9 The Hero Storyline – WWE 12

Triple H (distance) confronts Kevin Nash in the hero story of WWE 12

In the final storyline of WWE 12's Road To WrestleMania mode, you take control of Jacob Cass (the name provided for a created character) as he ends up being the WWE's best line of defense against a second WCW invasion led by Kevin Nash.

When Cass loses at WrestleMania, it seems as if WCW has actually won, with even a fake credits screen playing before Nash arrives to say it is not over. It culminates in a Hell in a Cell match filled with bizarre spots for both sides before Cass emerges the winner. The pacing is what makes this storyline ridiculous, yet oddly better than the actual invasion that happened in WWE.

8 Tag Team Champion With Eugene – Smackdown Vs. Raw 2006

A custom superstar fight Eugene in the PSP version of SD vs. Raw 2006

The lone game to feature the disabled wrestler Eugene, a persona created by WWE, also involved a storyline in the second chapter of the Raw story in which you become a tag team champion with him. You fill in for William Regal who was put out of action by a resurging Edge and Christian partnered with Trish Stratus.

Eugene is made to look like a complete fool, which is kind of offensive, as he unwittingly ditches the player to fight for themselves because the Canadian trio is nice to him. This gives the player the option to face Eugene in a match if they are unhappy enough. Eugene does see how manipulative they are though as he and the player eventually reclaim the world tag team championship from Edge and Christian.

7 Rey Mysterio's Road To WrestleMania – Smackdown Vs. Raw 2011

Jack Swagger congratulates Rey Mysterio in the latters Road to WrestleMania mode in SD vs. Raw 2011

Ever wondered what it would be like if a WWE game had an amnesiac protagonist? That is what happens to Rey Mysterio in the first WWE game of the 2010s. He is involved in a car accident at the start of the storyline and things only get crazier from there.

Eventually, it is revealed by Evan Bourne that Jack Swagger caused the accident and tried to trick Mysterio into being his friend, saying it was just an accident. From here, you can actually forgive Swagger and turn Mysterio heel, something that will never happen in real life. If this is done, a cool costume in which Mysterio has a half-skull mask for his new heel persona is unlocked.

6 Eddie Guerrero Uses The Undertaker – Smackdown Vs. Raw 2006

Eddie Guerrero makes his entrance in SD vs. Raw 2006

In the second chapter of the Smackdown story of the PS2 title, Eddie Guerrero acquires Undertaker's urn that controls his actions. The whole urn thing was odd enough but the eeriest part of this storyline is the ending.

After the player beats Undertaker in a buried alive match, Guerrero attempts to wake him up using an urn he does not realize is fake. The latter gets choke slammed into the casket by the Undertaker before he closes the lid. This eerily foreshadows Eddie Guerrero's actual death which occurred just a few days after the game's release.

5 Revenge Mode – WrestleMania XIX

Scott Steiner fights off construction workers and security guards in the revenge mode of WrestleMania XIX

A forgotten wrestling game for the GameCube, WrestleMania XIX ditched the traditional career mode in favor of revenge mode. This sees the player's selected character seemingly getting fired by Vince McMahon. They then run into the chairman's daughter, Stephanie, and the two team up to ruin WrestleMania as revenge.

Players fight in a variety of locations such as a construction site, a mall, and the docks. Basically, the player has to murder a bunch of innocent workers and wrestlers in a 3d beat-'em-up style of play by tossing them from high places to complete the level. The game may not say they die but seeing it happen makes it hard to deny it.

4 The Bray Wyatt Feud – WWE 2K19

Bray Wyatt prepares to hit sister Abigail on the player as Erik Rowan looks on in WWE 2k19's career mode

2K19 managed to tap into the potential of the career mode with a story that follows your character as they go from a wrestler competing in the indie scene to WWE's main roster.

You will eventually find yourself in a feud with none other than Bray Wyatt. He brings his supernatural creepiness and charisma to the table as he plays mind games with you. It makes for an entertaining feud that may as well be the best one in the game.

3 Undertaker's Road To WrestleMania – Smackdown Vs. Raw 2009

The zombie Finlay next to Rey Mysterio in SD vs. Raw 2009

The Undertaker is back but this time as the star of his own storyline. This storyline starts pretty normally until February comes around in-game and the Undertaker unleashes his power.

The Boogeyman, WWE's version of it, teams up with Finlay and Santino Marella to take Undertaker down; at one point, either Finlay or Marella will be in the ring with the Dead Man. Undertaker turns them, depending on who the player chooses, into an actual zombie with green skin and blank white eyes. Boogeyman also possesses a stick that seemingly kills someone when he drives it into someone's chest.

2 The Vs. Undertaker Road To WrestleMania – Smackdown Vs. Raw 2011

Dolph Ziggler competes in a druid battle royal in the Vs. Undertaker route in SD vs. Raw 2011

Before 2K14's beat the streak, there was the Vs. Undertaker Road To WrestleMania storyline. Either as a created superstar or one of the few provided characters, you get the opportunity to face Undertaker at WrestleMania, and the latter proceeds to give them hell.

The Undertaker plays mind games by making his opponent hallucinate a battle royal match with an arena filled with druids and Paul Bearer. However, that pales in comparison to what happens should you lose to the Undertaker. Instead of a game over, you will have to make a desperate last stand against a bunch of druids. Eventually, they turn you into a druid.

1 Candice Michelle's Magic Wand – Smackdown vs. Raw 2007

The player as a girl that was made so by Candice Michelle (right) as Edge (middle) looks on

The weirdest storyline to occur in any WWE game period involves lesser-known women wrestler Candice Michelle and a wand. The player gets into a feud with her and Edge and strangeness ensues.

Not only does Michelle make Edge talk and sound like former wrestler Daivari but also turns the player into a girl. If that was not unusual enough, the wrestler is seen admiring themselves at one point, which is made all the stranger if Triple H or Undertaker was chosen as the playable character since they provided their actual voices for the game. Also, Viscera, with his world's largest love machine gimmick, falls in love with the wrestler in their female form.
