There have been many characters whose presence has graced a WWE game over the years. From WWE legends to wrestlers that only appeared in one game, there have been many playable characters from WWE's storied history. Some characters though from WWE games, new and old, have been just straight up odd.

Whether it be a fictional character just straight up out of place or a slightly more in place character that should not have been playable in the first place. These odd characters show that WWE video games manage to somehow be even more insane than WWE at its most bonkers.

Tony - Smackdown Vs. Raw 2009

Tony stands in the ring in Smackdown vs. Raw 2009

Most years, WWE holds the Tribute to the Troops event where wrestlers perform matches to honor some of America's military veterans. Smackdown Vs. Raw 2009 decided to do this too by including a fictional army soldier by the name of Tony to its rank.

Tony plays the role of John Cena's army pal during the latter's Road to Wrestlemania storyline where Tony can be unlocked. Tony though is no wrestler and to see a minor character become playable is a bit odd, especially when compared to some of the other talented superstars on the game's roster.

Druid - Smackdown Vs. Raw 2011

Sometimes the Undertaker will be accompanied by a group of hooded figures known as druids that seemingly worship the Undertaker as a deity of some sorts. Though featured for years, they were not included in a WWE until Smackdown Vs. Raw 2011.

The druids themselves are fought in the Vs. Undertaker Road to Wrestlemania storyline, which is a totally insane storyline, as minions that sometimes have to be fought before you take on Undertaker himself. Just who is the guy under those black robes to begin with.

Golden AJ Styles - WWE 2K19

Moving to a more recent title, AJ Styles has been one of the most popular WWE wrestlers since he debuted in 2016 and even managed to find himself on the cover of WWE 2K19. For some reason though, the developers released a skin for Styles that showed what would happen if he was stricken by the Midas touch.

This AJ Stlyes made of solid gold can be unlocked by completing the character's million dollar challenge in WWE 2k19's tower mode. A cool reward to show off you did something great? That depends on who you ask.

Fred Durst - WWF Smackdown Just Bring It!

Fred Durst makes his entrance in WWF Smackdown Just Bring It

So the year is 2001 and Fred Durst and Limp Bizkit both provide the Undertaker's theme song at the time and to create one of the best Wrestlemania matches ever with Stone Cold Steve Austin vs. The Rock at Wrestlemania X-7. All of this was great and made WWE really cool but somehow it warranted an appearance in a WWE game.

That year's game saw Fred Durst appear as a playable character with his hit song Rollin being his theme song. It's all just so bizzare and it's easy to see why Durst never turned up in another WWE game again. It must be because of that face.

Turok - WWF Warzone

Developer Acclaim had a smash hit in 1997 with the release of Turok, an first-person shooter where you hunt dinosaurs. That same company also released WWF Warzone and saw the need to combine the two which have nothing in common what-so-ever, by including Turok's main character, named Turok in WWF Warzone, in the game as a playable character.

Turok in WWF Warzone can only be unlocked by using a Gameshark cheating device and with that outfit, it's easy to see why. He shares The Rock's moveset so if you want to see a Turok vs. The Rock dream match, WWF Warzone is the game to do it.

The Terminator - WWE 2k16

No not Arnold Schwarzenegger, who also happens to be a WWE Hall of Famer, but the actual Terminator from the movies that made the guy a megastar in the 80s and 90s. Both the T1 and T2 varients of the character manage to get into the game for some reason.

The Terminator was a pre-order bonus for the game that can also be purchased a DLC and if you wanted to see Seth Rollins be terminated for betraying the Shield, then WWE 2k16 is for you while you wait for a good Terminator game to come out.

Yourself - WWF WrestleMania Challenge

The character Yourself in WWF WrestleMania Challenge's character select screen

WWE games give the chance to imagine Yourself reaching the top of the WWE ladder to be immortalised forever and by Yourself, we don't mean your actual self but rather the character of Yourself from WWF WrestleMania Challenge.

Yourself, which we doubt anyone looks like him, is just a generic character to fill in as a created superstar before that was ever a thing in video games. No one ever probably picked this character either when compared to the rest of the roster which included the likes of Hulk Hogan, Andre The Giant and the Ultimate Warrior.

Ribbie - WWE 2k20

Ribbie makes his entrance in WWE 2K20

Oh WWE 2k20, not only were you a beautiful disaster of a game with your glitches and lackluster graphics, but you also include some rather questionable unlockable characters. Case in point is Ribbie, a dude dressed as an anthropomorphic rib with a bone popping out his head to make things weirder.

Ribbie shows up in the game's career mode, which is admittedly not that bad, that teams up with Jerry 'The King' Lawler to battle the player in Memphis and even fights the player at some points throughout the story. Just make sure you have a good explanation when you try to explain what Ribbie is exactly.

Zombie Characters - Smackdown Vs. Raw 2009, WWE 2k19 and 2k20

The zombie Finlay next to Rey Mysterio in SD vs. Raw 2009

Zombies are immensely popular these days which is probably the reason that zombie themed characters have appeared in some WWE games in the 21st century, despite the two having basically nothing in common other than pure insanity.

The first cases of zombies in WWE games was in Smackdown vs. Raw 2009 where Santino Marella and Finlay can be turned into one by the Undertaker in the latter's Road to WrestleMania mode (yes, really). The other is more recently where several stars, such as Triple H, is reimagined as zombified Wrestlers. All include green skin and white lifeless that do look pretty cool, despite the oddness of it all.

Head - WWF Attitude

Head (left) takes on Too Sexy (right) in WWF Attitude

In the late 90s, a wrestler named Al Snow became a pretty big star with his unhinged and insane gimmick that involved him carrying around a mannequin head, named Head, that he would talk to and treat like a real person. Head would even appear as a tag team partner in some matches which apparently was a good enough reason to include Head as a playable character in Acclaim's WWF Attitude.

Head was the mannequin head atop an invisible body with only their hands and boots available. Actually seeing this wrestle the likes of Steve Austin and The Rock is just a totally surreal sight which makes Head probably the oddest character to ever be playable in a WWE game.
