Any long-time and seasoned gamer in the world will be able to tell casual gamers that there are three core console game fandoms that you either love or hate, and that’s Nintendo, Xbox, and PlayStation. Of these three, Xbox has the most unique collection of mature and family-friendly characters and heroes you can imagine.
These heroes and characters are the driving force behind the company’s success and has led to some of the biggest franchises being spawned by the gaming giant. Here we are going to rank the top ten most powerful characters in the Xbox world.
10 Ori (Ori And The Blind Forest)
One of the first characters that needs to be on this list has to be Ori, of the hit game Ori and the Blind Forest. Ori is a white guardian spirit who fell during a great storm from the highest points in the forest, and was adopted by a creature named Naru.
However when Naru passes on, Ori uses the power of the guardian spirit and is guided by a blue orb named Sein to find the light of the three main sources of power in the land of Niebel: Waters, Winds and Warmth, to restore the forest once more.
9 Nick Ramos (Dead Rising 3)
This next character is the protagonist of the Xbox exclusive third game in the highly popular zombie franchise, Dead Rising 3. Nick Ramos is a lone survivor in the newly plagued zombie city of Los Perdidos, California.
Using his skills as a mechanic to fashion a wide array of various weapons, Nick must travel throughout the city protecting survivors and finding a way out of the city before the military fire bombs the entire area. Although human, his skills as a mechanic serve to make him a powerful force of nature with his creative and powerful weapons fighting the zombies.
8 Marius (Ryse: Son Of Rome)
This next character is interesting as it delves into an alternate history of one of the most iconic empires in human history: Rome. Marius is a Roman soldier who goes on a journey of vengeance after the tragic loss of his parents and sister during a barbarian invasion of Alexandria.
The events of the game lead him to confront figures like Emperor Nero and Boudica. Although he is human, he is given power and life renewed by the goddess Summer who wants him to not only seek his vengeance but defeat Nero and make the Roman Empire safe once more.
7 Jago (Killer Instinct)
One of Microsoft’s most iconic gaming franchises has to be the fighting game series Killer Instinct. The return of the franchise in 2013 saw the return of several powerful characters, including Jago.
The brother of his older sister Black Orchid and a warrior raised and trained by the Monks of the Tiger, Jago was infused with the spirit of the Tiger and given it’s power, and uses his powers and strength to take down Ultratech by entering into the Killer Instinct tournament. A character who struggles with his own power and fears the corrupting nature of it, Jago is powerful.
6 Jack Joyce (Quantum Break)
One of the newer characters to emerge in the Xbox world has to be Jack Joyce, the protagonist of the very popular and dynamic game Quantum Break. From the studio that brought the hit Alan Wake franchise comes a story of time travel, family and heroism.
Jack is doused in a type of radiation along with his friend Paul that allows them to manipulate and control time through certain abilities. Paul becomes the antagonist of the game, and Jack’s brother seemingly falls in the accident, leading to Jack’s mission to stop the Monarch corporation from using the machine ever again.
5 Black Orchid (Killer Instinct)
The other most powerful character in the Killer Instinct franchise has to be Black Orchid, the older sister of Jago. Believing herself an only child of a Seal Team 6 father, Orchid is taken to an isolated cabin when she discovers she inherited her grandmother’s abilities to summon the powerful “Firecat” spirit, who gained this power through the mysterious Project Aries 9 project.
In this cabin she trains to maintain her power responsibly, and years later must avenge her father after he is taken out by the Ultratech criminal cabal, working for the government to infiltrate and end the cabal.
4 Kait (Gears Of War 4 And 5)
One of the new faces of the Gears of War franchise is none other than Kait, who served as an ally in Gears of War 4 and is set to become the protagonist of the series in Gears of War 5.
The daughter of the Outsiders leader Reyna, Kait goes on a heartbreaking mission to try and save her mother, and now must learn about her family’s origins, as well as the evolved locusts known as the Swarm. Although seemingly human, her family heirloom bears a symbol that looks similar to the former locust Queen’s symbol, making her origins unknown.
3 Cortana (Halo)
This next character may not be human, but has proven to be both heroic and seemingly all powerful and possibly villainous as well. Cortana is the A.I. ally of Halo’s Master Chief.
Using her advanced knowledge and technology, she has sacrificed herself time and again to stop not only the powerful alien threat of the Covenant, but the diseased alien race known as the Flood and the destructive nature of the Halo rings. Yet her sacrifices may have come at a cost, as her access to ancient technology may have altered her motives and led to an AI takeover.
2 Marcus Fenix (Gears Of War)
The most powerful human in the Gears of War franchise to fight the locust horde time and again and manage to end the war once and for all has to be Marcus Fenix.
Enduring the losses of many allies, including best friend Dom and his own father, Marcus fought tooth and nail to take down the monster army known as the Locust Horde, and in the end was able to survive explosions, being eaten by giant Locust and even a battle with the all powerful Locust Queen in order to end her and stop the Locusts once and for all.
1 Master Chief (Halo)
The most powerful Xbox character of all time has to be the face, (no pun intended), Master Chief. The hero of the Halo franchise, the Master Chief is a genetically altered and engineered human who wears powerful armor and goes boldly where no other human dares go, fighting with everything he has to stop the threats facing not only humanity, but later the alien allies they make along the way.
Facing the Covenant, the Flood, and the newly returned alien race known as the Protheans, the Master Chief has saved the galaxy more often than not, and is a hero.
