Forza Motorsport is making a return to Xbox and PC, with it being touted as the "most technically advanced racing game ever made". In a trailer classic racecourses Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps and Laguna Seca were shown off as well as the major improvements made to this reboot of the series.
During the Xbox and Bethesda showcase gameplay was captured running on an Xbox Series X. "Forza Motorsport has been built from the ground up to showcase the Xbox Series X/S console" the game's creative director Chris Esaki said.
Forza Motorsport has always been the serious racing simulation compared to the more arcade experience of Forza Horizon, but the series has been missing from Xbox's roster since the last entry which was 2017's Forza Motorsport 7. Now the series makes a high profile return. Check out the trailer below:
"The accuracy of our overhauled physics, the beauty of our cars and tracks, our new dynamic time of day, advanced car damage, and real time ray tracing on track lead to a generational leap in immersions", Esaki said. Ray tracing was a big part of the presentation with in-game ray-traced light and reflections a major touted feature.
The racing itself is in line for major upgrades too. Esaki: "We've completely overhauled the core driving experience to take advantage of the power of the Xbox Series consoles. This includes a 48 times improvement in the fidelity of our physics simulation".
Weather and the changes on the track as the day wears on is another major feature that the Xbox developer Turn 10 Studios was keen to draw attention to: "Fundamental to Forza Motorsport is our fully dynamic time of day system, which brings tracks to life in stunning detail and like weather, it will be available on every track".
Car damage was also highlighted, with the dev promising micro levels of damage, such as in the way paint will peel off, wheel abrasions, and dirt build up. More infomation is available on the offical Xbox blog.
Forza Motorsport launches on Xbox and PC in spring 2023 and will be a Game Pass day one release.
