It can be hard to find games that are fun and safe for the whole family to play, but luckily Xbox Game Pass has you covered. There are quite a few games that are great for all ages based on their gameplay, difficulty, and the love they are shown by both kids and adults alike. It might seem like any other subscription service at first glance, but it is so much more than that.

The family-friendly games they have do cover a wide variety of gaming interests. It means there is something for everyone to enjoy on Xbox Game Pass, and it is worth the money to sign everyone up in the family.

Updated January 28, 2023 by Dominic Allen: Xbox Game Pass is a great service, but like Netflix and many others, things will come and go. The previous version of this list had five games that were no longer on Game Pass. Due to this nature, updates are required every year or so to keep up with the current library of the service. Thankfully there are many family games from first-party studios that are incredibly unlikely to leave anytime soon. With a mix of both first and third-party Xbox games, there are a vast number of quality family titles on the service.

10 Peggle

Peggle - A Board With Many Blue And Orange Pegs And A Cannon Preparing To Fire A Marble

One of the classic Xbox 360-era puzzle games that still holds up is Peggle. Both Peggle and Peggle 2 are excellent and fun puzzle games with a ton of replay value. Inspired by pachinko machines, your goal is to fire a ball that bounces against every peg on the board. It's a simple idea, but there's plenty of depth to it and a high-skill ceiling.

You only have a limited supply of balls, but there are several ways to get extra ones. Plus, you can play as many Peggle Masters, which all have their own unique abilities. It's great to play for both single-player and multiplayer, and due to the easy-to-learn but hard-to-master gameplay, Peggle remains one of the best family titles on Xbox Game Pass.

9 Banjo-Kazooie And Tooie

There are many stellar platformers on Game Pass, but the best for the whole family are Banjo-Kazooie and Tooie. As an N64 era collectathon platformer, they're two of the best, with amazing level design and lots of charm. The world has so many likeable and lovable characters that you'll want to help.

It's actually great for both kids and adults because, throughout them, there are several adult jokes that will go right over kids' heads (without being too rude for younger audiences). Tooie also features an awesome multiplayer mode with many unique game types. Everyone will have a blast with these two games, regardless of age.

8 Kameo: Elements Of Power

Kameo observing the land in Kameo: Elements of Power for the Xbox 360.

A launch game for the Xbox 360, you play as Kameo, who has the ability to transform into ten elemental warriors. Early on, you get stripped of them and must slowly regain all ten throughout the course of the adventure. This adds a nice progression system, and it's always fun to play around with the new abilities once you get a fresh warrior.

Kameo has the perfect length, and just when the game's gonna run out of steam, you beat it. It's great for kids, but adults will enjoy it as well due to the tight controls and solid level design. Just because a game is easy doesn't mean adults won't enjoy it. People of all ages can enjoy Kameo, and it's unlikely to be leaving Game Pass any time soon, as Rare has since become a first-party studio within Microsoft.

7 Gang Beasts

Four players fighting each other on shipping container in Gang Beasts

If you're looking for a quality party game on Xbox Game Pass, Gang Beasts is a great option. A ragdoll physics-based party game, you must beat up and throw your opponents into danger zones where they can be eliminated. Gang Beasts offers a wide variety of maps to play, and almost all of them are a blast. The ragdoll physics here makes the game both fun and funny.

This isn't a party game you can play for hours on end, but it's a great experience for a one to two-hour play session during a family gathering. Plus, if any in your family are big achievement hunters, then Gang Beasts is a must-play, as it's one of the easier games to get 1000 Gamerscore on Game Pass.

6 TMNT: Shredder's Revenge

A splash screen showing all the characters in TMNT: Shredder's Revenge.

In recent times, the beat-'em-up genre has received a sort of renaissance, with many quality titles innovating and modernizing the formula. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge is a perfect example. An amazing beat-'em-up with clear inspiration from the classic arcade Turtles games, but it adds so much more to it.

You can play with six players, not four like the arcade titles, which makes it great for the whole family. Nobody is going to be left out. With great action and six players at a time, it'll result in a fantastic experience.

5 Disneyland Adventures

Disneyland is an expensive place to visit, not to mention it can be quite a hike for families who live in the eastern part of the United States. Fortunately, now there is a game that simulates your time in the park with a special twist.

It takes you through the entire park with special challenges and adventures along the way related to the various characters and stories. It will allow you to experience Disneyland as you never have before. Keep in mind, since the game is from 2017, many of the new areas, like Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge or Avengers Campus, won't be included.

4 Golf With Your Friends

Golf With Your Friends

Minigolf is one activity that kids and adults alike love to play, and this game allows you to do so. However, it takes it to a whole new level as it can be played with up to 12 players and each course has a special surprise or two in store.

There are three different game modes and a ton of cool maps in the game. Beware of your family members as they can sabotage your ball with the tricks they have up their sleeves. It can be a hectic time, and definitely one of the better family games on Game Pass.

3 Astroneer

If your interests lie in space exploration then you should check out Astroneer, where you can enter into the unknown. It has an online multiplayer with up to four players as they work together to make custom creations.

The goal is to be as creative as possible in order to survive as you make bases and vehicles from scratch. There are plenty of planets to explore, but make sure to bring these things to a new planet. It equals hours of fun for everyone involved as you all dive into this intergalactic adventure.

2 Zoo Tycoon: Ultimate Animal Collection

Zoo Tycoon: Ultimate Animal Collection gameplay

Those with a passion for zoos and a love for real-life simulation games will enjoy Zoo Tycoon: Ultimate Animal Collection. Putting you in charge of building a zoo, you must ensure the animals are properly cared for and the guests happy.

There are over 200 animals to choose from, and Zoo Tycoon can be played with up to four other players on Xbox, so the whole family can join in on the fun.

1 Overcooked 2

Overcooked 2 four players preparing food and running in Rail Track Stage

A cooking frenzy is exactly what you will experience in Overcooked 2 as you team up with three friends to craft enough dishes to feed the clients. You can play locally or online, and things are sure to quickly get out of hand.

It takes a lot of teamwork and strategy to earn all the stars, but Overcooked 2 is one game that you won't be able to put down. Just make sure to keep things under control when your teammates inevitably screw up.
