Xbox has just announced it's revamping its console's dashboard. The "new Xbox Home experience," as senior product manager lead of Xbox experiences Ivy Krislov calls it, will begin tomorrow with a "multi-month series of experiments" that Microsoft hopes will create a better, faster, and "more personalized" home dashboard.
"We know the Xbox homepage is where our gamers spend the most time, and it’s a space that’s very personal," wrote Krislov over on Xbox Wire. "We also know we can always be listening and learning how we can do better here while keeping your experience fast and familiar. With that, we’re kicking off a multi-month series of experiments to learn how to create a more personalized home screen experience and address some of the top trends and fan requests."
A random subset of Xbox Insiders in the Alpha Skip-Ahead ring will start seeing some of these changes starting tomorrow. Those changes will include a new "jump back in" row that provides quick access to recently played games and apps; a better layout that lets you more easily access system apps like Settings Store, Search, and My Games; a more consistent design and visual identifiers; and when you scroll down, Xbox users will see curated categories and recommendations based on their gaming preferences.
"We are also exploring options for new game channels and collections when you scroll down that include content that’s curated for you based on things like the games you’ve played or how to make the most out of your Game Pass subscription," Krislov added.
Expect more changes as Microsoft slowly iterates on the new dashboard design for the rest of the year. The plan is for the new home experience to arrive sometime in 2023. Microsoft is asking Xbox Insiders to provide their feedback over on the Xbox Insider subreddit here.
