Like its predecessor, Xenoblade Chronicles 2 features a plethora of incredible locations. With the game’s setting, Alrest, being one of the best fictional planets in gaming, it's no surprise that it is host to some of the most gorgeous places for you to visit.

From dusty deserts filled with unimaginable creatures to cozy island towns hidden within the safety of a forest, there is a wide range of places for you to visit while exploring in Xenoblade Chronicles 2. While almost everywhere in the game is a truly awe-inspiring sight to behold, there are a handful of places that stand out above the rest.

8 The Argentum Trade Guild

The Argentum Trade Guild is the first significant location you’ll visit at the start of Xenoblade Chronicles 2. It is a bustling trading station host to a wide variety of cultures mingling, eating, and trading with one another. You’ll find shops adorned with all kinds of unique foods, trinkets, and spices lined up in the center, while on higher floors you’ll find Nopon merchants haggling for better prices and tired tradespeople eating a hearty meal.

Nothing best represents the frantically wonderful nature of the Argentum Trade Guild than its theme song that bombastically plays in the background. It is a fantastic location to start a game with, showing off the game’s incredible sense of scale and verticality while introducing the player to its diverse world. If you ever get the chance while exploring, you should revisit the Guild every once in a while and soak in its delightful atmosphere.

7 Gormott

Xenoblade Chronicles 2 Locations a wide shot of a grassy plain in Gormott with the town of Torigoth in the distance with Tora and his blade Poppi stood in the foreground looking at it

It seems almost impossible to follow up Xenoblade Chronicles’ unbelievable location Gaur Plains, but somehow its sequel knocks it out of the park with the beautiful and expansive Gormott. Home to grassy fields, towering dinosaurs, lakes, and arguably the best town in the game, Gormott is a truly outstanding location.

Its theme song also manages to match the majesty of Gaur Plains’, uplifting the player and instilling within them a sense of adventure and a hankering for some good old-fashioned exploration. You’ll find all sorts of secrets, chests, and wonders hidden within the many heights of Gormott, so exploring it to its fullest is highly recommended.

6 Torigoth

Nowhere is as inviting as Torigoth. Its folk-inspired bouncy theme song beckons you to enter its bustling town center, while its many offshoots, platforms, and farms encourage exploration. It is a truly vast town that offers a plethora of exciting places to uncover, and yet it somehow manages to maintain a high level of detail throughout all of its alleyways, bridges, and homes.

Torigoth is a prime example of how Xenoblade Chronicles 2 perfects immersion, bringing you in with its sights and sounds and making you wish you could stay forever. While there are plenty of salvage points across Alrest, Torigoth offers the most comforting space to do it in. It is a moment of brevity in an otherwise challenging and complex narrative, and just a generally fun place to be.

5 Mor Ardain

Mor Ardain is Xenoblade Chronicles 2’s desert map. However, just like with the majority of features in the game, it manages to stand out amongst the litany of other JRPG desert-based maps. It is vast and sprawling with metal worming its way through the rock and sand-like vines across a tree, perfectly capturing the sci-fi fantasy balance happening at all times throughout the game’s story.

Of course, while Mor Ardain is an incredible location in its own right, it is greatly helped by its unbelievably catchy theme song, Roaming the Wastes. This song, coupled with the harsher nature of Mor Ardain’s landscapes truly transforms your adventure into a far more dangerous experience, unlike with previous locations. As a result, it makes for the perfect mid-game location, and a great place to go and grind if you feel like jamming out to an absolute banger of a tune.

4 The Leftherian Archipelago

The Leftherian Archipelago offers a dreamlike sanctum for the game’s incredible cast of characters to take a much-needed break after experiencing a series of nightmarish endeavors and heartbreakingly difficult losses. Its peaceful theme plays as you glide across its many islands floating on a sea of clouds, explore its sleepy town, and visit its lush gardens.

While a lot does unfold during your stay in the Leftherian Archipelago, and there are still roaming creatures that want nothing more than to bite your head off, its prevailing theme is a peaceful, quiet respite from the darkness that has unfolded. As a result, visiting it feels like the perfect escape, and a great way to relax for a minute or two before you really start to feel it once more.

3 The Kingdom of Uraya

One of the best words to describe Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is magical. From its locations to its epic story, each and every facet of the game feels genuinely magical. Nothing best represents this than The Kingdom of Uraya, a magical world hidden deep within the belly of an enormous titan filled with glowing pink trees, rushing waterfalls, and a dreamy castle town.

Perhaps one of the best reasons to visit The Kingdom of Uraya is to see the game’s greatest sunsets. The magenta-colored light falls upon the glistening pools and waking trees, casting a warm glow across the beautiful landscapes. It is a wonderful sight to see, and well worth a trip to the stunning Kingdom of Uraya.

2 Azurda

Azurda is easily the smallest location in the game, because it is quite literally a tiny house on the back of the titular titan, or as he’s more affectionately known, Gramps. You only really get to visit this at the very beginning of the game, and will then see it throughout various cutscenes then on.

You’ll begin your journey, escape from peril, laugh, cry, and take respite all on Azurda. While it may seem initially insignificant, this is a place of beginnings and therefore absolutely deserves a place on this list.

1 Fonsett Village

Fonsett Village can be found in the Leftherian Archipelago and is Rex’s home. He speaks of it fondly throughout and promises to one day take his friends there. Fortunately, you do eventually get to visit this small sleepy town comprised of a handful of people, a garden, and a graveyard.

Fonsett Village, not unlike Torigoth, is a safe and comforting place that offers you a space to reflect on everything that has happened over the course of your journey. You get to know a little bit more about our bubbly protagonist and understand his roots a little better. It also perfectly ties into the game’s incredible DLC, although you best experience that for yourself. Additionally, its theme and appearance feel as if they would fit perfectly in a Ghibli film, making it the perfect location to visit if you’re a fan of those movies.
