Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is a constantly expanding, emotionally thrilling experience with seemingly endless progression, systems, mechanics, and lovable characters at every twist and turn. While some would have been content with reaching Rank 10 with all twenty-five of the game's Classes, many will be pleased to learn that it doesn't entirely end there.

RELATED: Xenoblade Chronicles 3: Every Ferronis Hulk Location

As you progress through the game, you will meet and fight alongside countless Heroes and will have to complete their Hero Quest to obtain their Class and have them join your party. However, that's just one type of Hero Quest, as you can also take on Ascension Quests, which are a different type of Hero Quest that will extend the Level Cap for its corresponding Hero's Class.

Updated October 26, 2022, by Seth Parmer: The Second Wave of content from the Expansion Pass is finally out, bringing a new character and Class into the game. Because of this, we have updated this guide to include Ino and her Noponic Champion Class' Ascension Quest!

We placed all of the story-related spoilers at the tail end of this guide to help you avoid spoilers. So, if you have yet to finish Xenoblade Chronicles 3, we recommend not scrolling too far. Use the icons to select the Class you're looking for to avoid being spoiled!

Ascension Quests Overview

Ascension Quests in Xenoblade Chronicles 3 are special Hero Quests that allow you to break past the original boundaries set in place for Class Ranks, raising the Level Cap from Level 10 to Level 20. This will enable you to make that Class much stronger than before while also learning new Skills and Arts.

Some Ascension Quests are tied to the main storyline, while others will require you to do several side quests for Colonies before they become active. However, we recommend seeking these out as these buffed-up Classes can significantly impact end and post-game content, making it much more manageable.

Furthermore, much like the standard Class Ranks, you can use Silver Nopon Coins to power level a class. Jumping straight from Class Rank 10 to Class Rank 20 will cost 45 Silver Nopon Coins, while each increment will have varying degrees of cost, depending on your current Class Rank. You can find the enhancement rate for each Rank below!

Swordfighter Ascension Quest

Noah from Xenoblade Chronicles 3

Due to the Swordfighter Class initially belonging to Noah, you will need to complete his Hero Quest to unlock the ability to increase its Rank from 10 to 20. Luckily for you, you will simply do this by progressing through the game's story. The bad news, however, is that it won't be until you reach Chapter 7, which can be pushing well over a hundred hours, depending on how you play. Nonetheless, here are the prerequisites needed for the Swordfighter Ascension Quest:

Requirements

  • Reach Chapter 7
  • Receive Hero Quest - Side Story: Noah
  • Complete Side Story: Noah

Once you have finished the Hero Quest - Side Story: Noah, your Swordfighter Class will be Ascended, allowing you to level it all the way up to Class Rank 20. While it comes much later in the game than we'd like it to, the wait is worth it, and we recommend getting your Swordfighter Class to Class Rank 20 as quickly as possible. Additionally, the table below has everything else you may need to know about Side Story: Noah!

Zephyr Ascension Quest

Mio from Xenoblade Chronicles 3

Mio is in a similar boat as Nioh in that her Hero Quest comes naturally as part of the game's main story and doesn't happen until you reach the Sixth Chapter. As you know, Mio's default Class is Zephyr, which is what her Ascension Quest will unlock the ability to level it beyond Class Rank 10 and up to Class Rank 20. Though, like Nioh's, you might be waiting for a pretty long time until you can take this quest on.

Requirements

  • Reach Chapter 6
  • Receive Hero Quest - Side Story: Mio
  • Complete Side Story: Mio

Meeting the requirements above will grant you the ability to increase the Zephyr's Class Rank to Level 20. While Side Story: Mio comes after one of the most emotionally devastating Chapters in the game, this will hopefully give you the breather you need and deserve. Medic Gunner Ascension Quest

Eunie from Xenoblade Chronicles 3

Getting the Medic Gunner Ascension Quest is slightly different than the others and centers around Eunie's Hero Quest. While this is the earliest Ascension Quest you can pick up, it's not available until you're relatively deep into Chapter 5. Additionally, unlike the others, this Ascension Quest is not tied to the main story, having you take on a side quest to obtain it instead.

How To Start Side Story: Eunie

To begin Side Story: Eunie, you must reach the City in Chapter 5 and progress to the Standard Quest titled Castle Access. Once here, proceed through the quest as you normally would until you are asked to obtain a large sum of Ether Cylinders for your voyage to the Castle. At this point, there should be several 'Investigations' you can carry out within the City. Next, listen in on each conversation until you come across someone discussing Fortune Clovers.

After gathering this information, head to the City Camp and Discuss the Fortune Clovers request with Riku and Manana in your party to begin Side Story: Eunie. For this Hero Quest, it's recommended you be at least Level 45 before attempting to tackle it. You can find more information on Side Story: Eunie below!

Tactician Ascension Quest

Taion from Xenoblade Chronicles 3

Ascending the Tactician Class more or less follows the same rules as Eunie's but won't become available to you until a bit later in Chapter 6. Also, like Eunie's, Side Story: Taion is an optional Hero Quest that we urge you to seek out as increasing Class Ranks will allow your party to grow stronger and learn more Arts and Skills. Here's how to start this Hero Quest:

How To Start Side Story: Taion

You can begin Side Story: Taion in Chapter 6 by investigating people's conversations in front of the Death's Door Resting Spot at the Ascension Grounds in the Agnus Castle until you receive information about 'The Sea.' Once you gather this info, head to Camp Inlet and use the 'Discuss' option to go over the details, which will set you on the right path. After this, head over to Colony Lamda and gather even more information, but this time for 'Isurd's Request.' After gathering this, pour over the details at a Resting Spot.

You may have to complete a series of side quests for Colony Lamda before 'The Sea' and 'Isurd's Request' become available to investigate. If you do, it's currently unclear which ones you need or the specific requirements. If nothing is appearing for you in front of the Death's Door Rest Spot, head over to Colony Lamda and start tackling any available quests!

After Discussing The Sea and Isurd's Request, you are more or less just following waypoints and fighting whatever comes your way. For this Ascension Quest, you should be at least Level 54 but should be a little higher if you're playing on more challenging difficulties. Nonetheless, that's how to start Side Story: Taion. For more information on it, please check the table out below!

Heavy Guard Ascension Quest

Lanz from Xenoblade Chronicles 3

Being the default Heavy Guard Class, you will have to seek out Lanz's Ascension Quest to boost its Class Rank from 10 to 20. Like Taion and Eunie, Side Story: Lanz is an optional Hero Quest but can be tackled as early as Chapter 5 if you meet the requirements. While optional, we recommend doing every Ascension Quest to strengthen your party and get more backstory on these excellent characters.

How To Start Side Story: Lanz

Thankfully, Lanz's Ascension Quest is one of the easiest to start and requires you to go to the Elevator Landing area at the Great Sword's Base and investigate a conversation happening there, giving you information on 'Curious About Training.'

If you are not getting the prompt to investigate a conversation at the Great Sword's Base, you may have to progress a bit further into Chapter 5 and tackle some side quests for the City before it appears. Though, it shouldn't take much for it to become active, as it was there relatively early in Chapter 5 on our end.

Next, travel to the City Camp and Discuss the topic to begin Side Story: Lanz. You will then have to go to the Training Ground in the City, and the rest simply following waypoints and fight baddies. Additionally, you can look at the table below for more information on the Ascension Quest!

Ogre Ascension Quest

Sena from Xenoblade Chronicles 3

Another straightforward Ascension Quest belongs to the kind and ultra-strong Sena, whose Hero Quest allows you to Ascend the Ogre Class. However, despite being one of the game's simplest to start, you will be waiting for a long time before that happens, as Side Story: Sena won't be available until you reach Chapter 7. And, like the others covered this far, we cannot recommend doing these enough due to their ability to further flesh out your party members and make them stronger.

How To Start Side Story: Sena

Once you reach Chapter 7 in Xenoblade Chronicles 3, more investigations will pop up in several Colonies. For Side Story: Sena, head to the City and gather information for 'Ghondor's Grumbling,' then Discuss it at the City Camp to being the Ascension Quest. Your first step after Discussing the topic will be going to Swordmarch's Material Storage Warehouse. From there, like the others, you are basically following markers, watching cutscenes, and fighting enemies to Ascend the Ogre Class. Yumsmith Ascension Quest

Riku and Manana from Xenoblade Chronicles 3

The dynamic Nopon duo, Riki and Manana, have their own Ascension Quest as well, allowing you to jack up the Yumsmith Class Rank from 10 to 20 as early as Chapter 6. However, as expected with Nopons, this isn't as easy to begin as you'd think and requires a few steps before you can get the ball rolling. First things first, let's cover the prerequisites:

Requirements

  • Have the Yumsmith Class at Rank 10 with Sena
  • Obtain the Recipe for Cerise-Caprice Acqua Pazza
    • Acquired by ordering Acqua Pazza à la City from the Michiba Canteen

How To Start Culinary Repertoire

After the requirements laid out above are met, head to Camp Inlet with Riku and Manana in your party, and look for a '?' on your mini-map and in the area. Head to the '?' to begin the Culinary Repertoire Ascension Quest. Let the cutscene play out, and then go to Daedal Isle, specifically the Fifth Pillar Remnant Landmark, to fight off some encroaching Crustips.

Then prepare the Cerise-Caprice Acqua Pazza Meal you learned from the Michiba Canteen. From here, you will follow waypoints and fight enemies much like the others to complete this Hero Quest and Ascend the Yumsmith Class. War Medic Ascension Quest

Valdi from Xenoblade Chronicles 3

Ascending the War Medic Class is one of the more involved Ascension Quests in the game, centering around Valdi's goal to build the "Greatest Levnis the world has ever seen!" While his Hero Quest I'm a Mechanic can be started in Chapter 5, you may not have all the requirements met until sometime later. So, let's go over all of that first!

Requirements

  • Complete Phase 4 and 5 of Repapa's Collection Request and the following side quests:
    • Big Friendly Friend
    • Missing Parts
    • The True Culprit
  • Have the War Medic Class at Rank 10 with Lanz
  • Reach Chapter 6

How To Start I'm A Mechanic

Once the above requirements are met, choose Valdi as your Hero to have him join your party and head to Colony 30. When here, speak with Isurd, head to the designated area in Cotte Falls, and battle the enemies there. After that, talk to Isurd once more, head back to Colony 30, speak with Yuzet and then go to Colony 4 to finally talk to Solon. Yeah, there's a lot of dialogue here.

After doing all that, you will have to follow another waypoint, battle some enemies, and return to Colony 30 one last time to complete I'm a Mechanic and Ascend the War Medic Class. But, if you need a bit more information on this Ascension Quest, you can refer to the table below!

Guardian Commander Ascension Quest

Zeon from Xenoblade Chronicles 3

If you thought Valdi's Ascension Quest was a drag, we have bad news for you as Zeon's 'Reasons to Evolve' Ascension Quest is one of the most convoluted and monotonous ones in the game. While it can be started in Chapter 5, you would have needed to be on the ball for completing Colony 9 quests, which is a bit unlikely considering how much stuff goes on between then. So, here are the requirements necessary to begin Reasons to Evolve:

Requirements

  • Complete the following Colony 9 and Zeon-related quests:
    • Lean Times in Colony 9
    • Forgotten Supplies
    • A Difficult Transition
    • For Colony 9
  • Have the Guardian Commander Class at Rank 10 with Noah

How To Start Reasons To Evolve

After tackling all of the required quests above, with 'For Colony 9' being the most brutally mind-numbing quests in the game, it's time to get the ball rolling. Your first step will be to speak with Kite in Colony 9 with Zeon as your selected Hero. From here, you will have to investigate four conversations around Colony 9 to gather information on 'The Fields,' then Discuss the topic at the Colony 9 Canteen. After Discussing the topic, speak with Kite once more and head to Colony Tai.

Once at Colony Tai, you will have to speak with Juniper. After that, you will be asked to gather resources and will then have to plant Spongy Spuds. This process will take quite some time to complete, but you can speed up the process by paying Splishsplash 10,000 Gold to make it rain to help the Spongy Spuds grow faster. Splishsplash is a Nopon found in Colony Tai and is marked for you on your map. Again, this entire questline is just as monotonous as the steps leading to it, so expect to be here for the long haul. • Gain access to the Boundary and Erythia Sea Region
    • Go to the City and investigate a conversation for "Gray's Autonomy."
    • Discuss the topic, then follow the markers.
  • Have the Full Metal Jaguar Class at Rank 10 with Eunie

Discuss that at the Camp to finally begin the My Memories Ascension Quest. To complete this quest, you will have to travel to Colony Gamma, Colony Lambda, and the Hovering Reefs. Martial Artist Ascension Quest

Ghondor from Xenoblade Chronicles 3

Another late Ascension Quest belongs to Ghondor and her Martial Artists Class, which can be Ascended in Chapter 7. Before you can take on her Hero Quest, you will need to do a few things first, which is expected by now.

Requirements

  • Complete Side Story: Noah
  • Have the Martial Artist Class at Rank 10 with Sena

You may have to complete some sub-quests for Agnus Castle before this quest becomes available. If you meet the above prerequisites and you're not getting it to show, tackle some of the missions for Agnus Castle until it does!

How To Start Knowing Your Family

After you have met the above requirements, head to Agnus Castle with Ghondor as your selected Hero. Next, make your way to the '?' on your mini-map to learn about a large monster in the Fornis Region, which will begin the Knowing Your Family Ascension Quest. You will now follow markers, battle enemies, and collect materials to complete the quest. Can I ask you to look at the table for more information below?

Seraph Ascension Quest

Cammuravi from Xenoblade Chronicles 3

The Seraph Class belongs to the legendary Cammuravi, whose Ascension Quest can be started in Chapter 6. While this is undoubtedly an Ascension Quest, it's drastically different than the others and has no quest name, map indicators, or even a slight hint at what you're supposed to do to Ascend the Seraph Class. Before we get into what to do, let's cover the requirements.

Requirements

  • Reach Chapter 6
  • Complete A Twist of Fate to have Cammuravi join your party
  • Have the Seraph Class at Rank 10 with Taion
  • Have the Flash Fencer Class at Rank 10 with Noah

Cammuravi's Ascension Quest Walkthrough

After you have completed 'A Twist of Fate' and Cammuravi has joined your party, you will then have to have Taion reach Level 10 with his Seraph Class. Next, travel to Colony Omega and make your way up to the door icon leading to the Colonies Lab. Once inside, look for a Cradle that you can interact with that can age Soldiers to their Tenth Term.

When interacting with the Cradle, Ethel will state that she'd like to undergo the maturation progress, which will then prompt a choice. Accepting her request will mature her and grant you the Ascended versions of both the Seraph and Flash Fencer Classes.

Lifesage Ascension Quest

Nia from Xenoblade Chronicles 3

Nia is one of two post-game Heroes that can join your team, and her Ascension Quest can be tackled more or less the moment she joins your team. You just have to meet one requirement beforehand.

Requirements

  • Reach the post-game
  • Have the Lifesage Class at Rank 10 with Mio

How To Start Grasping My Future

Once you meet the above requirements, you can begin Grasping My Future by visiting the four areas Nia asks you to take her to see. They are as follows:

  • Saffronia Tree located at Rae-Bel Tableland in the Fornis Region
  • Tower Camp Rest Spot located at the Maktha Wildwood in the Pentelas Region
  • Agnus Castle
  • Founder's Memorial located in the City

You can take Nia to see all four of these locations before Mio is Rank 10 as the Lifesage Class. However, you will not be able to complete the next step until she is Rank 10.

After showing Nia the four locations above, she will then ask you to take her to the highest place in Aionios, the Cavity, which is the final task for this Ascension Quest. Take Nia to the Cavity, watch the cutscene and receive the Ascended Lifesage Class!

Royal Summoner Ascension Quest

Melia from Xenoblade Chronicles 3

Melia is another of the post-game Heroes that can join your party, with her Ascension Quest requiring a bit more legwork than what we saw with Nia's. So, without dilly-dallying too much, here's what's needed to begin From Atop Her Throne.

Requirements

  • Reach the post-game
  • Have all available Heroes unlocked
  • Have the Royal Summoner Class at Rank 10 with Noah

How To Start From Atop Her Throne

With the above requirements met, it's time to begin the From Atop Her Throne Ascension Quest. To do this, select Melia as your Hero and head to the Keves Throne Room in the Keves Castle. Once here, watch the cutscene and then do the following three subquests:

  • Friction With Agnus
  • Colony 9's Backup
  • The City Pep Talk

After completing these three subquests, head back to the Keves Throne Room in the Keves Castle with Melia still selected as your Hero. Once there, you can now access the room beyond the Keves Throne Room, which will complete the quest and grant you the Ascended Royal Summoner Class!

Noponic Champion Ascension Quest

Ino in Xenoblade Chronicles 3

Ino is the first character added to Xenoblade Chronicles 3 as part of the Expansion Pass, bringing the new Noponic Champion Class to the game along with her. While she can be recruited to your team as early as Chapter 3, you will not be able to begin her Ascension Quest until at least Chapter 5. There are also a few requirements you will have to meet before you can start, which we will go over now.

Requirements

  • Own the Expansion Pass
    • Claim Wave 2 Content
  • Clear the following Quests:
    • Champion of the Nopon (Hero Quest)
    • Going Full HD (Standard Quest)
  • Have the Noponic Champion Class at Rank 10 with Noah

If you're looking for information on how to begin Ino's Hero Quest or the Going Full HD Standard Quest, please check out our guide on everything Wave 2 offers! We cover how to start and complete both of the missions required to begin her Ascension Quest.

How To Start The Hope Of Noponkind

After taking care of the requirements above, you can finally start Ino's Ascension Quest, "The Hope of Noponkind." To begin this quest, you will need to head to the Namba Mound Camp in the Fronis Region, with Ino selected as your current Hero. Once there, you will see a '?' on your mini-map. Head over to it to trigger a cutscene.

After the cutscene plays out and you accept the quest, you will have to move to the Engardo Pass Camp in the Pentelas Region. From here, you will then have to head to the northernmost end of the Pentelas Region, where you will run into a large Nopon Eater that is Level 45. The first time you fight it, it will fly off, having you retreat back to the Engardo Pass Camp.

When at the Camp, Sunny will ask you to retrieve items for an OP Pollen Orb that will help you take down the Nopon Eater. Give him the requested Materials to fill up the gauge to complete the gadget. You can find the Materials in the table below!

OP Pollen Orb Materials

Once the gauge is filled up, Sunny will give you the OP Pollen Orb, allowing you to track the monster down one last time. After this, you will head to the Cadensia Region to battle the Nopon Eater again. It will be located near the Seaspray Lookout Landmark. Defeating the Nopon Eater will trigger the final cutscene, completing the quest once it is over. Be warned, however, once you get its health down halfway, Ino will use the OP Pollent Orb on the Nopon Eater, making it regenerate its full health. But it will no longer run.
