GTA Online role playing is an interesting experiment to see if GTA players can actually function as an online society. Like any RPG, it involves a server full of players taking up specific roles and enacting them in Los Santos. However, as expected, things often don’t go as planned and chaos ensues. Such was the case when steamer xQc was roleplaying as a kidnapper on the GTA RP NoPixel server.

As spotted by Dexerto, xQc and the Los Santos Police Department found themselves amidst a tense hostage negotiation. The police officers promised that they would let him and his partner go if he gave up the hostage. The streamer, however, had an inkling that the police would not honour their word. but went ahead with it just to prove a point to his viewers. And it turned out he was correct; upon releasing the hostage, xQc’s character was chased and gunned down.

This obviously annoyed him, and started verbally blasting the police officers for not honouring their word even though he had a hostage. Considering that this was a roleplaying server, the police should have ideally been a bit more sensitive as the in-game hostage is considered to be a real person.

Once the streamer found himself behind bars, one of the officers broke character and gave it back to him, saying, “It always becomes an ego thing with that guy. It’s not enough just to get what he wants. He wants us to feel bad about it and for it to be an ego thing. I can’t prove who it is. But we all know who that is. The way he talks, the way he dresses.”

This obviously annoyed xQc who was still adamant that it was not about ego and that he was well within the roleplaying realm of things. “He wants to act like he has more leverage. No, you don’t. I have a hostage,” he said. “I’m in character and not getting that connection that somebody could die. I’m not getting feedback that what I have is valuable. I brought a hostage to the police department, and it’s worth nothing to them. They don’t give a shit.”

He admitted that he may have pushed things a bit, but said that the fact that he had a hostage should have been the end of it.
