The Gulag in Call of Duty: Warzone is a double-edged sword of hope and despair. On one hand, players have the opportunity to fight for their freedom and the light at the end of the tunnel. All they need to do is be the one left standing. On the other, the Gulag has caused many to fall, defeated in a heated battle of life or death. For popular Twitch streamer - Félix "xQc" Lengyel - one particular moment in the Gulag will haunt him forever.
It wasn't the first time xQc had experienced defeat in the Gulag, but that isn't what's important. It's the way he was defeated - by his own hand. After running back and forth in the back of the arena with magnum in hand, he was unable to engage his opponent who was more than likely AFK during the entire thing. As the overtime clock went into effect, xQc lobbed a grenade to the other side of the arena and went to secure the point. He made an unfortunate miscalculation as the grenade bounced off of something and came back towards him as he was securing the point. He tried to get away, but it was too late, his hope of escape was over.
In classic xQc-chat fashion, 'OMEGALUL' and 'LULW' erupted from chat as he slunk back into his chair in bitter defeat. His expression of trying not to laugh and be upset at the same time was hilarious and really tied the entire moment together in true xQc style.
This won't be the last time xQc finds himself in the Gulag with the promise of freedom for the price of blood. It won't even be the last time he is defeated doing so. One thing is for sure, though, that moment was pure solid-gold entertainment. The gulag giveth and the gulag taketh away, xQc.
