I think it's time we blow this scene. Netflix recently released a live-action version of Cowboy Bebop’s intro.

Cowboy Bebop - the science fiction neo-noir anime featuring a ragtag team of space bounty hunters - is critically acclaimed for its depiction of love and loss, rich characters and it’s amazing opening.

A clip was posted on the Twitter account for Netflix Geeked - which often posts announcements about Netflix’s content that is geared towards anime, pop culture and the like. During the clip - which is around 90 seconds long - we get to see John Cho as Spike Spiegel, Mustafa Shakir as Jet Black and Daniella Pineda as Faye Valentine act out the iconic opening intro as seen in the original anime. Just like in the anime, the song featured in the clip is "Tank!" by a band called Seatbelts - which is known for its saxophone solos throughout.

The reactions seemed to be mixed on the thread for the tweet. Some commenters were still not convinced that the live-action would hold up against the anime with responses such as “...thats cringe” and “wack”. However, some fans were impressed with the remake. And although there was some debate, no one seemed to disagree that the clear standout star of the trailer was everyone’s favorite data dog Corgi - Ein. The Netflix series is set to release Friday, November 19, 2021.

In other Cowboy Bebop news, showrunner Andre Nemec recently revealed how the series will compare to the beloved anime. Nemec - who was joined by Cho - stated that fans should not expect a shot for shot remake of the anime, as the series will be more of "an expansion to the canon."

You can also be on the lookout for a comic and a novel companion series. Staff writer for the Cowboy Bebop series, Sean Cummings, wrote the novel that is to be released in November. Cowboy Bebop: A Syndicate Story: Red Planet Requiem will feature a young Spike and will serve as a prequel to the events of the series. The comic being released is written by Dan Watters - of DC acclaim - and follows the crew as they hunt down a gang member.
