We've all had that one girl on TV that we can't seem to shake, whether you were a child or an adult. Well, those beauties that live on the screen grow up too, for better or worse. Some age like a fine wine, others are more of a fruit, and some simply don't seem to age at all. A few we barely remember, from their first soiree with acting to becoming stars on the big screen. Drama shouldn't be a big surprise when we're talking about actors and actresses but the unlucky among them let it slip into their real lives, usually drawing the spotlight and creating a scene they didn't audition for.
Usually, these people slowly fade out of our minds as we get older, drifting into the background. Luckily, you have me to fish them from the depths and show you what they look like today. Now don't go pointing the finger if it ruins the childhood fantasy for you, you chose to read the list. Besides, it's more than likely an improvement in the recent health kick creating an older generation that looks better than they did 10 years ago. Hitting the gym might sound like nails on a chalkboard to some people but it does keep that Crypt Keeper look at bay.
20 The Iconic Twins
Mary-Kate and Ashley, the iconic twins that have continued to succeed since their acting debut in Full House all those years ago. Sharing the role of Michelle Tanner d(ue to child labor laws) put both sisters in the limelight. Eventually, shifting into playing individual characters in their own production company Dualstar in 1995. Then eventually branching out into fashion and merchandise for themselves and ended up becoming co-presidents in the company at the age of 18. 2004 brought along with it some troubling news as Mary-Kate was treated for Anorexia before recovering and settling down with her husband Olivier Sarkozy. Both girls have since said they are moving out of the acting world and into focusing on their 300 million dollar fashion industry.
19 The Bell Tolls
Here's our favorite cheerleader Kelly Kapowski (Tiffani Thiessen) who had her breakout role in Saved By The Bell. The quintessential 80s high school show springboarded her into the public eye in a big way. Who can resist a cheerleader with those cheekbones? She then popped up in guest appearances in multiple TV shows before starring in the Woody Allen film Hollywood Nights. After an up and down love life, she eventually married actor Brady Smith in 2005 (sorry gentlemen). From 2009 she starred in the hit drama White Collar, which put her back into the spotlight, looking good as ever. She now hosts her own cooking show, Dinner at Tiffani's, on the Cooking Channel. Could she be any more perfect?
18 We're Spying Her Beauty
Alexa Vega cemented herself in the memories of the masses when she starred in the hit film Spy Kids as Carman Cortez (and the 3 films that followed in the series). While still a young 13-year-old girl, Spy Kids became a massive success. In the years to come, she played in many smaller roles before appearing in Aerosmith's "legendary child" music video in 2012. She reappeared in 2015 on Dancing With the Stars. At this poi, t everybody noticed that Alexa was all grown up. Currently, Alexa and her husband Carlos Pena Jr. have a YouTube called lexloveslos, where they document their lives along with their Christian devotional Words of Wisdom. On Dancing With the Stars, she admitted to struggling with bulimia and has since recovered.
17 She Stole Our "Harts"
We all know Melissa Joan Hart from the hit TV show Sabrina the Teenage Witch, where she played a quirky, somewhat naive witch trying to deal with her powers and magical family. She recently competed on Dancing With the Stars and made it through to week 6. We saw Melissa as a full-grown woman, for all the world to see. 2010 brought around her leading role in Melissa and Joey, which lasted for 5 years, airing 104 episodes. In 2003, she married musician Mark Wilkerson and had 3 sons. In 2012, she tweeted her support for Mitt Romney, which that received a lot of backlash mixed with support. This later lead to her donating money to the Libertarian party and becoming a Connecticut chapter for Gary Johnson's campaign.
16 She Was Never An Underdog
Here is the blonde smoke show that we all know as Christine Taylor. She originally starred in the 1995 Brady Bunch movie. She would later appear on Ellen and several other projects, including the TV show Heat Vision and Jack (in 1998). On the set, she met superstar Ben Stiller and the two would later end up married. This lead to the two of them starring in a slew of films throughout their 17-year marriage, including blockbusters like Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story, Zoolander 1 and 2, and Tropic Thunder. Though we've known her through many years of watching her on screen, it's a struggle to tell that she's aged a day. Taylor just announced her separation from Ben Stiller in May of this year.
15 It Must Be Magic
This gorgeous superstar is Emma Watson. We all know who she is. If you don't you most likely live under a rock! She starred in one of most popular film series of all time, Harry Potter. She was the know-it-all witch that became one of the most well-known characters in recent history. After Harry Potter (for around 4 years), she split her time between University and continuing her film career with the comedy This is the End. After graduating in 2014 with a degree in English literature from Brown University, she went on to become a U.N. Women's Goodwill Ambassador (2014). She followed this up with a modeling career, working on campaigns with Burberry and Lacombe. There's not much more praise we can give Emma Stone except that she seems to be on a non-stop path to the top.
14 This Girl Was Our World
At the young age of 12, Danielle Fishel rose to fame with her role in Boy Meets World as Topanga Lawrence. Running for 8 years and drawing the eyes of many, she went on to star in multiple films after this including the National Lampoons. She then moved, becoming a spokeswoman for Nutrisystem, claiming it helped her lose some excess weight she needed to move. Even going on shows such as Tyra Banks to promote the product and showing off her new body in Maxim after her divorce in 2015. If that wasn't enough to leave your eyes on the floor, in 2008 she began attending California State University and graduated with a degree in Psychology. She's not just a pretty face after all.
13 Bring Out The Dancing Shrimp!
Amanda Bynes has been on a roller coaster in the past decade that few have rivaled. She blew up in the public eye with The Amanda Show and followed up with the two big hits Big Fat Liar, and She's The Man. In 2007, she starred in Hairspray which was a huge success, then followed up with the comedy-hit, Easy A. Soon after, she ended up on the cover of Maxim magazine. Sadly, during this time, she went through a DUI and was put under conservatorship by her mother after she was put on a hold for mental health issues. She sent a series of tweets and pictures that alarmed fans and the media alike. Now that she's back on track, she took a Fashion Design course at the FIDM in Irvine. Earlier this year, she did announce her plan to return to television.
12 A Ghoulish Beauty
Christina Ricci is the morbid little girl that stole our hearts as Wednesday Addams in The Addams Family. From there, she'd hold a certain macabre charm that continued throughout her career. Following through with the same theme, Ricci also starred in Casper, which ended up being a hit at the box office. Her first major role in a high budget film was Sleepy Hollow, which was directed by Tim Burton, who famously carries the same uneasy feeling to the majority of his projects. It seems she has a taste for the darker things in life because she then continued her career with Monster, the story of the wife of a serial killer. Our queen of all things grim has since added a little color to the mix and looks unreal at the age of 37.
11 She's The Boss Now
Alyssa Milano started her career playing Tony Danza's daughter in Who's the Boss? She's cute as a button and caught the attention of just about any teen. The big screen wasn't enough though, so she featured in a string of Broadway plays that parlayed into a 5 album record deal, which then hit Platinum in the charts. She then became our favorite witch, Phoebe, on the hit TV show Charmed. This lasted 8 years until 2008, the same year that our worst dreams came true. She became engaged in December, then married the following year, dashing the population's dreams for good. Alyssa also created a comic book series called Hacktivist, and became involved in multiple charities for AIDS and water resources. She currently hosts the series Project Runway Allstars.
10 Heart-Stoppingly Gorgeous
General Hospital has the second longest running episode count of any television show made to date, I'm assuming that means the public likes it, and its where our next damsel comes from. Tia Carrere spent 2 years on the epic show and from then on she was off to the races. She starred in the cult classic, Waynes World. Who can resist an island girl that can sing? Her first studio album, Dream, came out in 1993. Her 2nd studio album, Hawaiiana, was a step into her Hawaiian roots and it paid off because of its Grammy-nominated status for best Hawaiian album. Luckily, she picked one up both times for her following 2 albums in 2009 and 2011. Don't forget her shoot where she posed for Hef's magazine cover in 2003.
9 Justin's A Lucky Man
Originally the gorgeous Erin Hardesty In Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Jessica Biel has taken her initial film spark and made a fire out of it. I didn't hear anybody complaining when she showed up in a latex outfit for the third installment of Blade, either. She's carried the torch ever since, through a run of box office successes to this day. I'm afraid you're going to have to cross this lovely lady out as well when it comes to fulfillable fantasies. You can cling onto hope but she's currently married to superstar singer/actor Justin Timberlake and I don't see many being able to compete with him. Her latest Netflix show, "The Sinner," should show just how well she's looking these days.
8 The Punk Princess
Having sung with Shania Twain on stage by the age of 15 is no small task, which is why Avril Lavigne is a household name worldwide. After her impressive duet, at the age of 16, Avril signed a two-album recording deal that was worth more than 2 million dollars. Being one of the pioneers of the pop/rock music scene, she represented a totally different style and was a breath of fresh air for the time. This hype led to over 40 million albums being sold and 50 million singles worldwide. If that's not enough she also learned to speak French fluently and moved to Paris and attend a Berlitz school. While she still looks amazing, she revealed she had been diagnosed with Lyme disease in 2015 and is now in recovery.
7 We'll Save You Mary Jane!
Kirsten Dunst garnered widespread recognition when she acted beside Brad Pitt as Claudia in Interview with a Vampire, a role that saw her nominated for a Golden Globe Award. Of course, the part that most of us know her for is playing Mary Jane in Tobey Macguire's Spiderman, where she portrayed the struggling actress that wooed the masses. She held onto the role through all three of the films. In 2011, she made her way to Germany and gained German citizenship, stating that she wants to do a film in German in the near future, despite having a child's level fluency. Then again, when you look like that, you can get a pass on a few mishaps.
6 Still As Fresh As Ever
Tatyana Ali played Ashley Banks on the sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel Air and while she began the series as the naive, innocent girl we all grew to love, throughout the series she became a jaw-dropper that the younger generation fell for. During this time she was encouraged by the star of the show, Will Smith, to pursue a career in music. After the show ended, she produced an album called Kiss The Sky, which became certified Gold in 1999. She then attended Harvard University and gained a bachelors degree in African-American studies and government (2002). Today she stars in the soap opera, The Young And The Restless, having transformed from everyone's little sister to stunning star.
5 Slaying Vampires And Our Hearts
Buffy The Vampire Slayer, need I say more? Providing the answer for every girl that became a useless wreck in a horror film, Buffy became the role model for ladies everywhere. Buffy proved to be a woman that knows how to takes control and handle any situation. For many of the men watching, that was a huge turn on. This take-charge attitude continued in the hit thriller I Know What You Did Last Summer. In Cruel Intentions, she played a manipulative nymphomaniac that I'm sure didn't slide past the rest of you. She has since written a cookbook and co-founded Foodstirs, an e-commerce startup focused on food and recipes. Her cookbook, Stirring Up Fun With Food, was released on April 18, 2017.
4 Who Could Hate Her?
Julia Stiles burst onto the scene in Gil Junger's 10 Things I Hate About You, with costar Heath Ledger. Her next role was as Nicolette Parsons for the Jason Bourne series, another spectacular and resourceful female lead who managed to capture our eyes. In fact, the positive response they got from the first film lead to a steadily increasing role in subsequent films and Julia Stiles became a staple actress in the series. Despite her acting prowess, she has lent her time to multiple charities ranging from building houses in Costa Rica to working with Amnesty International to address juvenile conditions of immigrants. She's not just looks and heart, either. Julia's also received a Bachelors degree from Columbia University and applies this to her work going forward.
3 She's Definitely All That
She's All That did a lot for a few previously unknown actresses and dragged them from obscurity into the limelight. The film landed Rachel Leigh Cook the cover of FHM magazine in 2000 and that cover is definitely a sight for sore eyes, to say the least. Post magazine success, Rachel carried on into an elaborate voice-over career that placed her on projects like Batman Beyond, Final Fantasy, and Kingdom Hearts. Not a bad voice to hear throughout your game. Taking a break for a few years, she returned in 2007 in Nancy Drew before continuing on in a variety of smaller roles. In 2011, she was chosen by the Obama administration as a Champion for Change in arts. Since then, she has slowed down and left us wanting more, especially looking that good while knock-knock-knocking on 40's door.
2 In West Philadelphia, Born And Raised...
Another Fresh Prince alumni, Karyn Parsons played Hilary Banks on the hit TV show. She has legs and symmetry only a mirror could attain. She later starred in another critically acclaimed series, The Job, where she played beside Denis Leary. Even during her time on The Fresh Prince, Parsons was starring in comedies like Major Payne and Late Nights. As ditsy a character as she played on the show, she defied that stereotype by creating The Sweet Blackberry animated series that showcases stories about black people that achieved great feats. It's amazing to see someone who was portrayed as an "airhead" show the world that, beyond the character, she's an incredibly talented and intelligent woman.
1 We'd Let Her Fight For Us In Court
Legally Blonde was a smash hit in 2001, and became an iconic film for teenage girls of the time. This put Reese Witherspoon on the map and shot her onto the main stage. She received a Golden Globe nomination and then appeared in Sweet Home Alabama. Reese now owns a production company called Hello Sunshine, a clothing company named Draper James, and is involved in many organizations related to women and children's issues. She is also a member of the board for the Children's Defense Fund. In 2013, there was some controversy around her that lead to a Disorderly Conduct charge. Thankfully, she seems to be back on track and we wish her all the best. She still looks so stunning after all these years.
